Library offering new adult programs

-

Special to the Courier

Beginning in April, the Saline County Library is adding three new programs for adults.

Two of those, Tabletop Games and Comic Book Club, will be monthly and one, Library Karaoke, will be a special one-time event.

“It’s important that libraries offer programs for adults,” said Adult Programmer Mason Newberry. “It allows them to see the wide variety of services and materials we have, and it offers a safe place where adults can visit with others who share similar interests without fear of judgement.”

Tabletop Games is an interactive Zoom program where participants will be able to play classic card games over Zoom. This program will be held on the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m.

Comic Book Club, which will be held on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m., will be a time to talk about some of your favorite comic books and graphic novels. Saline County Library’s comic book expert, teen librarian Brett Williams, will be guiding the group through the world of comic books and graphic novels.

“It’s always great to nerd out with people over shared interests like this,” said Williams, “but I’m also looking forward to real, in-depth discussion and the chance to hopefully give more credibility to comics and graphic novels, in general.”

Each month, participants will be given a comic book or graphic novel to read on Hoopla for free and they will have a discussion about it at the monthly meeting.

The Saline County Library will also be hosting their first-ever

Library Karaoke night over Zoom at 7:30 p.m, April 12. Participants will be able to choose from more than 40,000 songs to sing-along to in this entertaining and interactive event.

“Participants can expect a lot of fun from these three programs,” said Newberry. “They may walk away from these programs with new friends or something to look forward to every month. My favorite part of creating a new program is watching an idea turn into reality and knowing participants enjoyed it.”

Registration is required for all of these programs, and participants can register by visiting SalineCounty. Librarycalendar.com.
