Business closure baffles customers

- By PATRIC FLANNIGAN For The Sunday News

CAMDEN — Expert Tire representatives say that they cannot provide any reason as to why the Camden location of the business shut down earlier this month.

Camden’s Expert Tire branch closed its doors last week for reasons unknown.

As the new year rolled in, potential customers who pulled into the facility’s location at the corner of Washington and Spring Streets in downtown Camden were not greeted by Expert Tire employees, but by a note on the doors of the business. Also, there were no car maintenance-related items or equipment in the building — it has been emptied, except for a few pieces of furniture and some wall fixtures.

The note on the door stated that “this Expert Tire location is closed” and suggests that customers visit the Expert Tire location at 615 Northwest Ave. in El Dorado. It also states that all tire and maintenance warranties will be honored at the El Dorado location.

There are rumors that the company was either being sued or running out of customers. However, these

statements have not been confirmed.

In an effort to find the real reason for the closing, the Camden News contacted the El Dorado branch of the company.

An associate, who requested he remain anonymous, referred the questions to his “boss in Little Rock,” Keith Lundquist.

Lundquist was unavailable, but his secretary — who did not want to provide her name — said that the closing of the Expert Tire branch in Camden was not a decision made at the local level.

“It was a corporate decision,” the secretary said. “We can’t provide any information as to why it was shut down because we did not make that decision.”
