PATSY ANN DURR

Patsy Ann Durr, 63, of Huttig, passed away at the John R. Williamson Hospice House on Saturday, June 13, 2015. Born on July 18, 1951, in Huttig, she was the daughter of Felton Billings and Bride Marie Bass Billings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Durr; her parents; and a brother, Ronnie Jean Billings.

Surivivers include one son, Chadwick Lee Durr Sr., of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Donald R. Andrews, of El Dorado; and three grandchild­ren.

There will be no public viewing at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Huttig, with the Rev. W.T. Ward officiatin­g. Bural will be in Batts Chapel Cemetery, Huttig.

Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home, Inc., El Dorado.

SALLIE HOUSE

Sallie Brown House, 89, went to be with her Lord on Friday, June 19, 2015. She was born Sallie May Brown, the fourth of five children, on Sept. 18, 1925.

She graduated at Junction City. Upon graduation, she moved to Boston, Mass., where she was trained to be a telephone operator. After transferri­ng to El Dorado, she worked at South Western Bell Telephone Co., where she met her husband, James Edward “Ed” House, married and had two children, James Edward Jr., and Jamie Lee. She was a faithful wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a faithful member of Marrable Hill Chapel where she was very active. Later she returned to work as a telephone operator. Retiring in 1987 when the office closed, she joined the Telephone Pioneers of Arkansas, where she was elected as secretary of the club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Neil Ferguson and Lois Shephard Hanson Brown; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Jerry; three brothers, Walter Lee, John F. and Neil “Bill” Hanson; a son, James “Jim” Edward House Jr.

Surviving is a daughter, Jamie Lee Snider, wife of Randy Snider, of El Dorado; a daughter-in-law, Cindy House, of El Dorado; three sister-inlaws, Nancy Jane Stevenson Brown, of North Arkansas, Nell Armstrong House, of Magnolia, Texas, and Mary Ann Brown, of Junction City; grandson, James Ryan House, husband of Rachel; two granddaugh­ters, Angela Celeste McLelland, wife of Chris McLelland, of Junction City, and Kimberly Nicole Doyle, wife of Jeff Doyle; one great grandson, Tristian Daniel McLelland; and one great granddaugh­ter, so special to her Meme, Samantha Celeste McLelland, of Junction City.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 this afternoon at Young’s. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Young’s Chapel with the Rev. Ben Wasson officiatin­g. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

JO ANN NEWMAN

Jo Ann Newman, 82, of El Dorado, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015, at West Houston Medical Center Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Jo Ann was born in El Dorado on Nov. 14, 1932, to Leland C. Estes and Lucille Parker Estes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of 20 years, Charles “Vance” Smith, and more recently by husband, Albert G. “A.G.” Newman, her husband of 30 years.

She was a graduate of El Dorado High School and until her retirement, was human resources manager at Amercable in El Dorado and had worked for Tosco plus Murphy Oil.

She was a long time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in El Dorado. She was a Master Gardener and enjoyed working in her garden, helping out with other Master Gardeners at the local schools, especially Northwest Elementary until her health began failing. She enjoyed all things Wildcat and Razorback sports related.

She is survived by her sons, Steve (Dorothy) Smith, of Houston, Texas, and Barry A. Smith, of St. Louis, Mo., two grandchild­ren, Jonathan (Margie) Smith, of Houston, and Kenneth (Maria) Smith; one great-grandchild, Keaton Smith, of Leander, Texas.

Also surviving is, a step-son Gil (Liz) Newman, of Gainesvill­e, Texas; a brother-in-law, Donald Ray Newman, of El Dorado; and three step-grandchild­ren, Lindon (Lisa) Davis, of Fayettevil­le, Stefan Gregory Newman, of Lewisville, Texas, and Zachary Benton Newman, of San Marcos, Texas.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Young’s Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in El Dorado. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.

RUTH RUSSEY

Ruth Russey, 82, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of El Dorado, died on Saturday, June 20, 2015.

Arrangemen­ts will be announced by Sims Mortuary Inc., of El Dorado.
