Dear Diaries: Tina Brown publishing book of private journals

NEW YORK (AP) — Tina Brown has some secrets to spill.

The British-born author and magazine editor has a deal with Henry Holt and Co. to publish the diaries she kept during her years running Vanity Fair, the publisher told The Associated Press. "The Vanity Fair Diaries" comes out in November.

Brown was editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair from 1984 to 1992, when the magazine covered the fall of Princess Diana's marriage to Prince Charles, among other news, and published such headline-making covers as the one of a naked, pregnant Demi Moore. Brown's diaries also touch upon her marriage to journalist and publisher Harry Evans and her "battles in the boys club" of publisher Conde Nast.

After Vanity Fair, Brown edited The New Yorker and helped found Talk magazine and The Daily Beast.

Elvis Presley’s Graceland opening new entertainment complex

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A $45 million entertainment complex featuring exhibits and restaurants focused on the life and career of Elvis Presley is scheduled to open at Graceland in Memphis.

Priscilla Presley, the former wife of the late rock 'n' roll icon, is scheduled to appear at the grand opening of the complex in Tennessee on Thursday.

The 200,000-square-foot complex is located across the street from Graceland, Presley's longtime home. It features a comprehensive Presley exhibit, a showcase of the cars he owned and used, a soundstage, two restaurants and retail stores. The complex will replace the aging buildings that have housed Presley-related exhibits for years.

The center is part of a $140 million Graceland expansion, which includes a 450-room hotel that opened last year.

Presley died on Aug. 16, 1977, at age 42.

Looking for Oscar bump, ‘Moonlight’ heads back into theaters

NEW YORK (AP) — Best-picture winner "Moonlight" is heading back into theaters in what will be its widest release yet.

Its distributor, A24, said the film will play in about 1,500 theaters this weekend. "Moonlight" first opened in late October, and while it played in 585 theaters last weekend, it's out on DVD and digital rental.

The film's long release never surpassed 1,104 screens. By comparison, most major wide-release films open on 3,000 or more screens.

"Moonlight" has thus far grossed $22.3 million in domestic release. That makes the film, made for just $1.5 million, one of the lowest grossing best-picture winners ever. The lowest is 2009's "The Hurt Locker," which made $17 million, or about $19.4 million in today's dollars.
