Wildcats open track season with second-place finish

SPRINGHILL, La. - El Dorado’s boys track team opened their season on Thursday by finishing second at the North Webster Relays.

Skyler Higgins delivered a first-place finish in the 1600-meter run for the Wildcats, who had a plethora of top five finishes.

In addition to Higgins’ win, Austin Hutchins and Julius Miller were fourth and fifth in the 1600.

In the 3200-meter run, Braden Griffin was third and Collin Taylor was fifth.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Keonte Barnes, Peyton Perry and Donovan Walters took second, third and fourth place respective­ly.

In the 300-meter hurdles, Barnes was second, while Perry was fourth.

El Dorado had two finishes in the top three in the high jump with Alston Andrews taking second and Caleb Scott third.

Scott was also second in the long jump with Perry adding a fifth-place finish.

Scott rounded out his solid performanc­e with a third-place finish in the triple jump and a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter run.

As was the case in the high jump, the Wildcats had a pair of finishes in the top three in the shot put with Cecil Delphin taking second and Denzel Walter finishing third.

In the 100-meter run, Jeramiah Henry was sixth and Dewey Wilborne were sixth and eighth respective­ly.

Miller and Tykeonce Hicks were sixth and eighth respective­ly in the 200.

In the relays, the Wildcats were third in the 4x100, fourth in the 4x200 and third in the 4x400.

Barnes, Scott, Wilborne and Henry collaborat­ed to run both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, while Higgins, Miller, Chris Newton and Henry ran the 4x400.
