Habitat seeks volunteers
To the Editor:
Do you want to see improvement in our neighborhoods? Do you want all the kids in our community to have a decent, affordable place to sleep every night? Do you feel a personal desire to make a difference in our community? Does your church congregation desire to get up out of the pews and make a difference in the life of a neighbor family in our community?
If you want to personally help make our community of El Dorado a better place to live then please partner with El Dorado Habitat for Humanity as we begin building our 41st Habitat home in our community.
This home will be located at 537 E. Second Street, just two blocks south of Hillsboro and two blocks east of the viaduct. El Dorado Habitat for Humanity will begin this home on March 25th and hope to have it finished by the end of June.
This house will become the new home for the Lowery family and their two children. Both the Lowerys work in the fast food industry.
El Dorado Habitat for Humanity needs your help to make this house a reality. There so are many ways you can help. You can pray for our work and our mission of reducing substandard housing in our community. You can personally volunteer on a Saturday or Tuesday morning during the build. Better yet — you can organize a group of friends, family, or church members to come work on a designated Saturday. Does your work place look for team building projects? If so, call to set up a time for your team to come and partner with us. Is your congregation looking for a local place to connect and give in faith? If so, give us a call and let your congregation partner with us by volunteering or through donations. Maybe your youth group wants to have a fundraiser to support local missions — if so give us a call. Maybe your business or employer can partner with us by making a gift in kind donation of useable building materials or professional services. Maybe you have a mission team planning on taking a foreign mission trip and you would like to team build — give us a call.
Don’t worry about your skill level, Habitat just needs willing hands and caring hearts.
Our community needs us all. Please consider how you can make a difference in the life of this family and our community. I guarantee you at the end of the day you will be glad you did and the feeling you get from volunteering or donating will change your own life for the better. Let’s make El Dorado better together!
