Smackover knocks off Harmony Grove 5-0

HARMONY GROVE - A scintillat­ing pitching performanc­e by Mallory Brewer coupled with four two-out runs lifted Smackover to a 5-0 win over Harmony Grove on Thursday afternoon.

Brewer fired a one-hit shutout for the Lady Bucks (17-2). She walked one and struck out eight.

Smackover dented the scoreboard with two runs in the third thanks to an error.

With two outs, Karli Goocher and Lexis Cook singled to put runners at first and second, and they both scored when Reagan Richardson reached on an error.

Smackover padded their lead in the fifth.

Tessa Watson bunted for a base hit, stole second and scored on an RBI double by Goocher.

The Lady Bucks then put the game away with a big two-out hit in the seventh.

After Goocher singled to cap her 3-for-3 day at the plate, Richardson crushed a two-run homer.

Brewer kept the Lady Hornets in check, permitting just two baserunner­s in the contest.

Smackover also won the JV game 6-1.

Brooklyn Dees struck out six to pick up the win, and Kailey Stogsdill had two hits and three RBIs for Smackover.

Parkers Chapel 13,

Bradley 0 BRADLEY - Parkers Chapel banged out 15 hits and Courtney Phelps hurled a four-hit shutout Thursday as the Lady Trojans improved to 11-3 on the season.

Allison Rogers had two hits, including a three-run home run for Parkers Chapel.

The Lady Trojans scored three runs in the first and led 9-0 before ending the game with four runs in the sixth inning.

Phelps went the distance in the circle, striking out seven while allowing four hits in six innings.

Offensivel­y, Phelps was 3-for-4 with a triple, two doubles and two RBI. Kaylin Waller was 3-for4 with two doubles and two RBI. Kenlee McAuliffe was 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI. Savannah Slaughter went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Searcy 9,

El Dorado 3 SEARCY - Kelsey Howard, Tristan Lewis and Marissa Rice each had one hit for the Lady Wildcats.

Howard scored a run, while Rice drew a pair of walks.

Sydney Crisalli had a walk and an RBI for El Dorado.

In the circle, Payton Scarlett allowed four runs and two hits in two innings of work. She walked two.

Larran Simmons allowed seven hits and five runs in four innings. She recorded one strikeout.

El Dorado returns to action this afternoon when they take on Camden Fairview in a Class 5A-6A District 6 contest.
