El Dorado freshmen compete at Magnolia

News-Times Staff MAGNOLIA - El Dorado's freshman boys track team competed at a meet at Magnolia earlier this week with several Wildcats delivering top five finishes.

Nashville won the meet with Magnolia, Crossett, Texarkana and El Dorado rounding out the top five spots.

Overall, seven teams competed in the event.

Neekco Davis gave the Wildcats a first-place finish in the high jump at 5 feet, 8 inches.

The Wildcats had a pair of top-five finishes in the long jump with Devante Kidd taking second, while Devante Yarbrough was fifth.

Kidd and Yarbrough were also fourth and seventh respective­ly in the 100meter dash.

El Dorado also fared well in the relays.

The team of Williem Artis, Kidd, Clasine Miller and Yarbrough was first in the 4x100.

Artis, Jamal Norman, Davis and Yarbrough were fourth in the 4x400, while the team of Joe Jackson, Steven Tollette, Ian Hernandez and Hunter Seeman finished fifth in the 4x800.

Hernandez added a fifthplace finish in the mile for the Wildcats.

El Dorado also had two top-10 finishes in the discus and shot put.

In the discus, Quentin Frazier was sixth and Gabe Reed was eighth, while Jacoby Hankton and Dalton Perdue were fifth and ninth respective­ly in the shot put.

In the 800-meter run, Artis was third and Jackson was seventh.

In the 400-meter run, Yarbrough was second and Norman was 11th.

In the 200-meter run, Kidd was fifth and Devarious Bell was 13th.

Miller was 11th in the triple jump, while G'Savion Levingston was 11th and Reed wound up 12th in the 300-meter hurdles.

Smackover also competed in the meet at Magnolia, finishing in seventh place.

Dexter Crockett and Dawson Biggers each had top-10 finishes in the 100meter dash, with Crockett finishing fifth and Biggers ninth for Smackover.
