EL DORADO — A woman accused of trying to run her boyfriend over with a car was one of seven people who made their first court appearances on Wednesday for various charges from either the El Dorado Police Department or the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

Four of the seven people received bonds lower than or equal to $20,000 with 35th District Court Judge Jack Barker presiding.

Gladys T. Flowers, 21, of El Dorado, was arrested Tuesday and charged with fighting and trying to run over her boyfriend.

According to the police department, an officer responded to a domestic disturbance call at the 700 block of E. Pecan Street and made contact with a man who said Flowers attempted to run him over with a car.

Flowers and the alleged victim have been in a close relationship over three years and around 11 a.m. Tuesday they began fighting because he refused to leave the residence. This led to a series of alleged events involving bite marks, a kitchen knife, and a car incident at the intersection of Beech Street and East Avenue, according to the report. Later an officer made a traffic stop with a white 1998 Pontiac, arrested the driver (Flowers) and charged her with aggravated assault on a household member.

She is being held in lieu of a $10,000 cash or corporate surety bond.

Chad E. Blocker, 33, of El Dorado, was arrested Tuesday at the 100 block of Union Road 851 and charged with failing to comply with registration and reporting requirements, according to the sheriff’s office. The court found there was sufficient evidence and facts to go with the prosecutor’s recommendation for a $20,000 cash or corporate surety bond.

“[It’s] based on the seriousness of the crime your honor, he’s a registered sex offender and he was explicitly told not to be on the Internet,” State

Prosecutor Greg Thomas said.

This is not his first time he has failed to comply,

Deputy Jamie Morrow told

Barker.

“I didn’t know that was something I couldn’t do,”

Blocker said.

Barker reiterated: “No internet access.”

Kenneth D. Smith, 27, of El Dorado, was arrested Monday and charged with possession of crack cocaine.

According to the police department, Smith was pulled over near the Rainbow Mart

#4, 2110 Junction

City Road, around

8 p.m. Monday. The responding officer found Smith driving without a driver’s license or valid proof of insurance. More officers arrived with Bosco, a police K-9, who sniffed Smith’s car and began acting funny; In the car, officers found a digital scale and a pill bottle filled with small bags of white powder that tested positive for crack cocaine, according to the report.

Smith was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance - cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is being held in lieu of a $10,000 cash or corporate surety bond.

Javonte D. Van-hook, 18, of Norphlet, was arrested Monday and charged with breaking into a vehicle and stealing someone’s guitar amp.

According to the sheriff’s office, a witness saw Van Hook ditch his bicycle in a front yard located on Pure Street, walk away, and later carry what the witness described as a TV to the front of the residence. The witness told authorities that he saw Van-hook ride away on his bike and later came back for the TV, traveling towards Seven Brothers Road.

Deputies made contact with Van-hook and asked if he was riding on his bike around Pure Street earlier; he said “no!” according to the report. Upon further investigation, authorities located a black amp in the trunk of Van-hook’s gold Toyota and came in contact with a man who said his guitar amp had recently been missing from his vehicle near Pure Street. Van-hook was arrested and charged with breaking or entering and theft of property.

Van-hook has no prior criminal history, which led Barker to sentence him with a $5,000 signature bond. He is no longer on the Union County Roster.

“It was a bad choice that particular day,” Barker said.
