Owl Prowl planned for coming weekend at Moro Bay State Park
MORO BAY STATE PARK — An “Owl Prowl,” boat tour and “pedal boat fun,” will be held at Moro Bay State Park beginning at 6 p.m. today in the Visitor Information Area with the Owl Prowl, according to Corbin Merriott, assistant superintendent at the state park. No admission will be charged for any of the events.
Those attending “Owl Prowl,” will discover some fun facts about owls and will view a presentation about owls common to the Moro Bay area. After the presentation, those attending will walk around the park in search of owls.
At 10 a.m. on Saturday, a boat tour will be held and those participating will look for wading birds, basking turtles and fishing holes. They will learn about the history of Moro Bay and the Ouachita River.
Seating is limited so those planning to attend are asked to pre-register by calling the Visitor Center at 870-4638555. Those touring should meet at the marina.
A “beads of water” presentation will be held from 1:30 until 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Visitor Information Center and those participating will explore the “life of water,” make bracelets and “make our own water story,” Merriott said.
“Pedal Boat Fun” will be held at the marina from 3 until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. A park interpreter and other park guests will “enjoy the water on Moro Bay,” and a pedal boat race will be held.
A scavenger hunt will be held from 4 until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and participants will explore the park as they search for items on a list. The starting point will be the Visitor Information Center.
