City Arrests

• Gary L. Duft Jr., 33, who gave an address of 116 Union Road 213, was arrested on April 21 for aggravated assault and an Aransas Parole Board warrant for parole violation. Officers responded to a report of a fight at a residence in the 900 W. Fourth. A man told officers that he had allowed Duft to live on the property in his camper while he was incarcerat­ed. Upon his release, the man said he asked Duft to leave and Duft refused. A fight ensued, and the man said Duft swung a pair of scissors at him, puncturing his bottom lip. Duft then threw the scissors in the yard, the victim told officers. Police said they saw a pair of broken scissors laying on the ground where the altercatio­n reportedly occurred. A witness provided a similar account of the incident. She told police that she did not see Duft cut the victim, but she saw Duft drop the scissors on the ground.

• Candy Ramsey, 33, of 628 W. Second, was arrested April 19 for terroristi­c threatenin­g, first-degree. A woman told police that Ramsey drove to her residence in the 600 block of West Second, screamed obscene statements, and issued a terroristi­c threat. The woman said she slapped Ramsey in the face three times, and Ramsey ran to her car and left. The woman told police that had spoken to Ramsey earlier in the day some neighborho­od rumors that were directed at Ramsey, saying that she provided the informatio­n as a courtesy. She said Ramsey did not seem upset at the time. Witnesses corroborat­ed the woman’s statements, police said.

• Jennifer M. Aguero, 39, of 917 Euclid, was arrested April 19 on two counts of possession of a controlled substance — one felony count and the other, a misdemeano­r. Police said they served an arrest warrant for Augeuro on an unrelated charge, and as they were leaving the residence en route to the Union County Jail, she asked officers to retrieve her pill bottles from a nightstand. During an inventory search, police said they discovered various pills inside one of the bottles that had not been prescribed to Aguero.

* Germany J. Maxwell, 23, of 419 S. Madison, was arrested on April 14 on an Arkansas Parole Board warrant for parole violation. Police sad they learned of the warrant after Maxwell was taken into custody for an unrelated incident.

City Reports

• On April 21, police received informatio­n about a possible forgery attempt at Walmart Supercente­r, 2730. Employees said a man purchased two computers with nine $100 bills and a second customer who was with him tried to purchase several items — including a video game system, games, and cookware — with several $100 bills. The second male reportedly told employees that he had just cashed a check on Monroe, Louisiana, and had gotten the bills from a bank there. Employees said the males then left the business with two other males and female. Police noted that the bills seemed legitimate, but of the nine $100 bills, only one was accepted into a deposit with an onsite a money machine. Police said the machine rejected the other eight bills. were not. Officers seized a total of 19 $100 bills as evidence

• On April 21, police received informatio­n about a possible burglary attempt at a residence in the 1200 block of North Highland. A witness reported seeing black males run from the residence. Police said an air conditione­r had been removed from a window and placed on the ground next to the house.

• A man told officers on April 20 that someone broke into a rental house in the 900 block of Mount Holly and stole several appliances, including a stove, refrigerat­or, washer and dryer. A porch swing was also taken, the man said. Police said no signs of forced entry.

• A man told police on April 20 that he received informatio­n about a possible terroristi­c threat that had been made against him. Later, the man said he was in the front yard of his residence when a vehicle slowly drove past, and the driver stared at him.

• An employee of Dixie Self Storage, 1101 Memory Lane, told police on April 20, that two counterfei­t 100 bills iwere left inside a money drop-off box. She noted that the bills bore the words, “For cinematic use only.”

• A woman reported on April 20 that someone broke into her vehicle at her residence in the 800 block of Mount Holly Road and damaged the radio. She said it appeared as if the suspect was attempting to remove the radio from the vehicle.

• A man told police on April 19 that someone broke into his storage building at his residence in the 2100 block of Laurie Avenue and stole two skill saws, a drill, several hand tools, several articles of clothing and a pair of boots.

• A man told police April 18 that he had received a counterfei­t $10 bill as change for a purchase he had made two days earlier at Rainbow Food Mart, 1010 S. Washington. The man said he learned the bill was counterfei­t when he attempted to purchase gasoline at another store on April 18. He requested that officers escort him to Rainbow to exchange the counterfei­t bill for a “real one.” Officers denied the request and seized the bill as evidence.

• Police responded on April 16 to a report of criminal mischief at Antoon’s Jewelers, 1014 N. West Ave. Police said three front windows were damaged by what appeared to be “BB strike marks.” The damage was estimated at $3,000.
