People charged make first appearances
EL DORADO — Seven people facing various charges made their first court appearances on Monday with 35th District Court Judge Jack Barker presiding.
• Mark S. Spooner, 40, of 1703 Woodcrest Lane, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a certain person, theft by receiving and failing to appear in court.
According to the sheriff’s department, Spooner is connected to Meredith Atwell’s arrest from March 6, who allegedly was selling stolen firearms out of a vehicle in the parking lot of WalMart, 2730 N. West Ave.
In court, Thomas recommended a $50,000 bond, cash or corporate surety, because of his history and the fact that there’s an active bench warrant for him out of Union County Circuit Court.
Barker agreed with Thomas’ recommendation stating, “He has felonies dating back to 2009.” He is to have no contact with Meredith Atwell and Crystal Bailey, Barker said.
• Jacob C. Kennimer, 41, of Texas, was
arrested April 17 for allegedly trespassing into two different homes along Magnolia Highway, according to the sheriff’s office.
Kennimer is facing the following charges: residential burglary, second-degree terroristic threatening and criminal trespassing.
According to the report, two women complained of a suspicious man trespassing onto both of their properties before 3 p.m. Monday. He allegedly trespassed into the kitchen, where a witness first saw him. After she threatened to shoot him, he walked to another house and was greeted by a witness with a shotgun, according to the sheriff’s department.
Prosecutor Carla Gibson recommended a bond over $50,000 due to the nature of the offense and his criminal history.
He is being held in lieu of a $75,000 bond, cash or corporate surety.
• Bruce D. Massey, 52, of Strong, was arrested Monday for allegedly possessing crystal meth in his vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
He is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond, cash or corporate surety.
• Jennifer M. Aguero, 39, of 161 Union 457, was arrested and charged with possessing Hydrocodone and Valium. Also, she is facing the following misdemeanors: failure to appear in court, fleeing and shoplifting.
In court, Aguero said, the pills in her possession were prescribed to her; she “just had them all in one bottle.”
She is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond, cash or corporate surety, for the possession charges. In addition, she was assigned a $2,345 bond, cash only, for the misdemeanors.
• Candy D. Ramsey, 33, of 628 W. Second St., was arrested Thursday for allegedly threatening to kill her neighbor, according to the El Dorado Police Department.
According to the report, Ramsey’s neighbor told her about some rumors going around, regarding her children. Later, police said, Ramsey approached her neighbor, threatened her, and the neighbor slapped Ramsey in the face three times.
In court, Thomas recommended a $10,000 bond, cash or corporate surety. However, Thomas lowered it to a $10,000 signature bond after listening to Ramsey’s account of the incident.
“You threatened to shoot her,” Barker said. Ramsey countered. “No I didn’t,” Ramsey said, adding later, “I’m not a violent person, you hear.”
Barker agreed to Thomas’ second recommendation because Ramsey has four children and is receiving government assistance while unemployed.
• Gary L. Duft, 33, of El Dorado, was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated assault, according to the El Dorado Police Department.
He is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond, cash or corporate surety.
• James C. Harville, 27, of Calion, was arrested Saturday in connection with a domestic disturbance that caused a woman’s insulin tube to be pulled out, according to the sheriff’s office.
Saturday, at 10 a.m., deputies responded to a residence located at the 4000 block of Chapel Hill Drive, where they found a woman in the back seat of a white Ford F-350 truck; they saw her crying with blood trickling down from her right eyebrow, according to the report.
Next to the truck stood Harville, who told authorities that the incident started because of a dog.
The couple broke up six days ago, Harville said, and he came back to her residence to get his dog, which she refused to give up, according to the sheriff’s office.
The two began arguing about ownership, which led to fighting, which resulted in the victim having a cut above her right eye, scrapes on her arms and her insulin tube pulled out, according to the report.
Deputies arrested Harville based on the following charges: second-degree battery, possessing instruments of crime and public intoxication. In court, his charges were reduced to misdemeanor allegations.
After court, he was released on his own recognizance.
