Lady Bucks take home track crown

MCGEHEE - Smackover’s girls edged Lake Village to win the 3A Region 6 District Track Meet Wednesday in McGehee.

The Lady Bucks totaled 188.5 to hold off the Lady Beavers’ 176.5.

McGehee (71), Fordyce (43), Junction City (33) and Drew Central (10) rounded out the girls totals.

Junction City finished second to Lake Village in the boys team totals.

Mercedes Ellis led the Lady Bucks with first place finishes in the 800 and 1,600.

Ellis anchored the first place 4x800 relay along with Destiny Jackson, Kara Burson and Jordan Price.

She was also a member of the first place 4x400 relay with Camree Jones, Adrianna Williams and Makenzie Malone.

Other standout Lady Bucks included Stormy Anders, who won the 100 hurdles and Precious Dorman, who won the pole vault.

C.J. Johnson led the Dragons with first place showings in the 100, 200, long jump and triple jump.

Tez Brown was first in the 400 and tied Johnson for first in the high jump.

Johnson, Taylon Dixon, Hishmma Taylor and Takeon Holliday teamed up to win the 4x100.

Smackover’s George Williams won the pole vault.

•• • EL DORADO - Strong finished second to Hampton in both the boys and girls divisions of the 1A Region 8 East District Track Meet last week at Memorial Stadium.

Hampton won the boys title with 250 points followed by Strong (189), Sparkman (75), Hermitage (15) and Dermott (4).

Rudy Moody won the 110 hurdles.

Chaundre White won the discus and Devin Russell won the pole vault.

Hampton was led by Monta Thomas, who won the high jump, long jump, 100 and 200.

Hampton won the girls title with 273 points followed by Strong (158) and Sparkman (8). Amaya Smith won the 100. Dimond Ward won the 300 hurdles.

Mykhalia Barnes won the discus. Africa Williams won the long jump.
