Marksmansh­ip Challenge set for August 12

A Marksmansh­ip Challenge will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 12 at Slingin’ Arrows, 1428 N. West Ave., El Dorado.

The four-part challenge will include BB guns, baitcastin­g, Olympic-style archery and 3-D archery.

Medals will be given to high scores for first through third grade, fourth through sixth, seventh through ninth and 10th through 12th. All equipment will be provided and no registrati­on is required. Admission is free.

A Retired and Senior Volunteer Program dance, for people age 55 and older, will be held from 7-10 p.m. Friday at Champagnol­le Landing Senior Center, 910 E. Fourth St., El Dorado. The dance will feature the music of “William & Friends.” Admission is $6 per person and no smoking or alcohol is allowed.

Village plans steak supper

VILLAGE: The Village Community Center will have the annual steak supper from 5-7 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $20 and need to be bought or reserved in advance by calling 870-949-1203 or 870-596-2634 and are also available at Magnolia Feed and Fertilizer and Olson’s Gun Shop. The meal will include steak, desserts and trimmings.

American Legion dance to be held Friday

“Rickey Redd” and “Outpost,” will be playing dance music from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday at the American Legion Post Home. Everyone 21 and over is invited to attend and admittance is $8 at the door.

County judge announces road closure

The 300 block of Industrial Road will be closed beginning at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, weather permitting, according to Union County Judge Mike Loftin. He said officials are expecting a one-day closure, but completion of the project may take two days.
