Missouri trip yields plenty of fun

- By Katie Meade

After being gone for five days, Cooper came home Sunday night with a huge smile on his face.

I could tell he had so much fun on his trip.

Last Tuesday night, we enjoyed supper and he said his goodbyes.

I loaded up his suitcase, his favorite blanket and his pillow and I took him to my parents.

He spent the night and headed to Branson the next morning with his Pappaw and Gigi.

Wednesday afternoon, I got a phone call from him to let me know they made it safely and he was ready to have fun.

I received pictures of him playing at the go-kart track, riding the bumper boats and playing mini golf.

Swimming pool pictures, big smile pictures and Silver Dollar City pictures filled up my phone.

The next ones were of his day at White Water and going shopping for school clothes.

My little daredevil also decided that he wanted to zip line across Lake Taneycomo.

He did it.

Twice.

Your child having no fear can be a good thing and it can be a bad thing.

Every day he would call us and let us know what he had done or was about to do.

His voice was always filled with excitement.

I knew he would probably be so worn out from running around all day that he would go to bed at a decent time.

His excitement kept him up until about midnight every night.

It worked out pretty good because he would sleep in until about 9 a.m.

After a couple of days, I realized we had done nothing but sit around and miss our child.

Evenings were spent just sitting at home, watching TV and catching up on laundry.

Saturday night rolled around and I was so excited because he would be home the next day.

I had missed my kitchen and laundry assistant.

Sunday afternoon around 8 p.m., our little man came home.

His puppy was so glad to see him as well.

After five straight days of being spoiled rotten, Cooper was back home.

He gave us hugs and showed us all of his new clothes and souvenirs.

I could tell he was still behind on sleep.

After his shower and getting ready for bed, I could tell he was ready to fall asleep.

His eyes were heavy and he could barely stay awake.

He told me he just wanted to sit in my lap and rock for a little while.

He climbed up in my lap with his blanket and laid his head on my shoulder.

In just a few minutes, he fell asleep.

I carried him to his room and tucked him in snuggly.

The wild man had finally ran out of gas after going nonstop for five days.

He was comfortable in his own bed, in his room and back home with mommy and daddy.

Everything was right in the world again and his dog wasn’t worrying me to death anymore about the tiny human being gone.
