Dragons knock off Trojans by one stroke
Junction City and Parkers Chapel renewed their rivalry on the golf course on Wednesday at the Lions Club with a match that was fought tooth and nail with one stroke separating the schools.
Thanks to their balance, the Dragons edged out the Trojans with Brennan Aycock shooting a 51 to lead Junction City.
Clay Jolley shot a 56 and Haden Wilson added a 66 for the Dragons, who had a team score of 173.
Payne Williams earned medalist honors with a 49 for the Trojans, who also got a 59 from Michael Brotherton and a 66 from Jordan Arrington to complete their scoring.
El Dorado's junior varsity team had two members compete as individuals with Cameron Kuhlmann shooting a 65 and Bryson Robinson adding a 67.
DRAGONS FINISH SECOND IN CAMDEN
CAMDEN - Junction City's boys golf team opened the 2017 season on Tuesday with a second-place finish in a threeteam match.
The Dragons were the runner-ups to Camden Fairview with Fordyce finishing third.
Aycock finished one stroke behind Camden Fairview's Chad Sponer for medalist honors by carding a 48.
Jolley and Wilson each shot 55 for the Dragons, who had a team score of 158 to finish 15 strokes behind Camden Fairview.
Tyler Lunsford had a 63 and Chase Jerry added a 67 to round out the Dragons.
