South Arkansas Community College to offer
late-start term
For the first time ever, South Arkansas Community College is offering a limited late-start term, separate from the fall semester, with classes starting Sept. 5 and running through Dec. 8.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for people who wanted to enter college this fall but missed the registration deadline, or found that the classes that they needed were full,” said SouthArk marketing and communications director Heath Waldrop.
It also gives students who already are enrolled at SouthArk a chance to take additional classes at times that might be more convenient for them than those offered in the regular fall semester.
Seven classes are offered: English I, composition I, introduction to sociology, computer information processing, principles of speech, SouthArk success and elementary algebra with laboratory.
For more information, or to register, contact enrollment services at SouthArk, (870) 864-7195. Registration will continue through the first day of classes on Sept. 5.

Chamber to help with HOPE Landing box
The El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce is helping HOPE Landing with their HOPE box.
HOPE Landing staff members are asking local residents to “fill our box with coffee, regular coffee filters, sugar, creamer, small Styrofoam cups and stir straws so that the parents/ guardians can have a cup of coffee while they wait for their child during therapy. We would also like to collect some gelatin packs for the horses to put into their feed and keep their hoofs strong. Anyone wanting to donate please bring the items by the chamber and place them in the HOPE box.
