Notice of Passing MARY MATNEY

Mary L. Matney, formerly of El Dorado, passed away in San Antonio, Texas Saturday, September 23, 2017. Services will be announced by Young’s Funeral Directors of El Dorado, Arkansas.

AMBERS HARTSFIELD JR. Funeral services for Armbers Hartsfield JR. will be at 11:00 am on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Harper Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Fulton Lum JR. and Kevin Osgood officiatin­g.

Burial with military honors will follow at Harper Springs Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Life Touch Hospice of El Dorado or to Harper Springs Cemetery Fund C/O Marion State Bank, Marion, LA.

Obituaries VERNELL PORTER

Vernell Clark Porter peacefully passed from this world into Eternal Life on the morning of September 23, 2017, surrounded by loved ones while gazing up at her devoted daughter.

Vernell was born on July 11, 1935, in Lafayette County, Arkansas to Lawrence and Lovie Clark. She spent her childhood days enjoying the company of a beloved sister. The two were affectiona­tely known as the “Clarkies from Arkie”.

In 1953, she married Donald Albert Porter who remained her one and only love even after his death in June of 2007. The two were blessed with one child.

Vernell was preceded in death by her loving husband and parents. Those she leaves behind to grieve here loss include her daughter, Donnie Ann Phelps (Johnny) of Strong, AR and her sister, Carnell Harris (Red) of Kilgore, TX as well as grandchild­ren Angie Baker (Scott) of Williamsbu­rg, VA, John David Phelps (Amanda) of Strong, AR, and Rhonda Seat of El Dorado, AR. She took great delight in her six great grandchild­ren: Emma Grace and Porter Baker, Courtney and John Tyler Phelps, and Logan and Landry Seat.

The family will welcome guests for visitation on Monday, September 25 from 6-8 pm at New London Baptist Church in Strong, AR. A celebratio­n of life will be held on Tuesday morning, September 26 at 10:00 at New London Baptist Church followed by a graveside service at Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville, AR at 2 pm.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Timberlane Nursing Home and Lifetouch Hospice for their ministry in Vernell’s last days.

Services will be under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home of Stamps, Arkansas.
