Magnolia resident Rodney Cherry still missing
The search for 51-year-old Magnolia resident Rodney Cherry continues. He was last seen at approximately 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at his home on County Road 511, just off Dudney Road (County Road 47) near Greers Chapel Methodist Church. Cherry was last seen dressed in camouflage pants, a gray shirt, a blaze orange vest, and a backpack.
Almost immediately after being reported missing on Saturday, search and rescue efforts began. ATV and side-by-side riders scoured the thickly wooded areas that night, and more help was brought on board Sunday. In the days following the missing persons report, local and state authorities helped in the search. Police helicopters, special heat signature reading drones, and three separate canine tracking units have been used to search the timber and farmlands in the small, sparsely-populated territory near Cherry’s home. According to Columbia County Sheriff Mike Loe, multiple on-foot grid searches stretching for miles around the Dudney Road vicinity have taken place over the past few days. Authorities are now asking that hunters and landowners in the area check any game or wildlife cameras they might have set up.
For even more help in the search, news outlets around the region have been contacted for assistance — including KATV in Little Rock, KARD in northern Louisiana, and the Arkansas Missing Persons organization. Family members and those close to the family are not giving up.
“We’ll take this worldwide if we have to,” said one family friend.
If anyone has information on Cherry’s whereabouts, please call 911 immediately.
