Union County students named to SAU ʻMadagascarʼ cast and crew
MAGNOLIA — The Southern Arkansas University Theatre Department performed “Madagascar” this month at Harton Theatre.
Students from this area who are involved in the production include the following:
Addison Preston of Smackover, is a senior game, animation, and simulation design major.
Preston played the part of Channel 8 cameraman in this performance.
Mackenzie Leal of El Dorado, is a freshman performing arts theatre major.
Leal was one of the assistant stagem anagers for this performance.
Alexandria Gartman, of El Dorado, is a senior performing artst heatre major. Gartman was part of the publicity crew for
this performance.
The family-friendly production of “Madagascar - A Musical Adventure” is based on the popular Dreamworks animated motion picture.
The Zoosters of Central Park Zoo – Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe – escape and end up on an action-packed journey that leads to the island paradise of Madagascar, home to an assortment of strange and wacky inhabitants, led by the lemur King Julien.
The special, behindthe-scenes look at the production of the musical, “Madagascar: Behind the Foliage” gave children ages 12 and under a chance to meet the cast and crew, tour the theater, see costuming and makeup firsthand and have a special choreography session to learn the dance of the hit song, “I Like to Move It.”
