Notice of Passing

JANET M. SMITH Janet Marie Smith passed away on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Strong. Visitation will be from 10 until service time at the church.

Burial will follow in the Huttig Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service in Crossett.

ALLIE STEPHENS Funeral for Allie Stephens, 102, will be held at noon today at the Christ Centered Ministries Church in Farmervill­e, Louisiana, with the Rev. Michael Singleton pastor, officiatin­g.

Interment will follow at the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Farmervill­e.

BILLY R. LEACH Visitation for Billy Roy Leach will be held from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday with services following at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas.

BRENDA K. BARNETT Funeral for Brenda Kay Barnett, 55, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at the C.O.G.I.C. in Farmervill­e, Louisiana, with Elder Darrell James officiatin­g.

Interment will follow at the Community Garden Cemetery in Farmervill­e.

Visitation will be held from 2 until 6 p.m. today at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

IDELLA M. JAMERSON Funeral for Idella M. Jamerson, 82, of Magnolia, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at A.C. Henderson Memorial Chapel in Magnolia with the Rev. Victor Morgan officiatin­g.

Burial will follow in Freehope Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service.

Visitation will be held from noon until 4 p.m. today at Henderson’s Mortuary in Magnolia.

MARY CHRISTOPHE­R Funeral for Mary Christophe­r will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at Greater Paradise Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in Little Hope Cemetery in Spearsvill­e, Louisiana under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.

All public viewing will be after the service.

MARY JONES Funeral for Mary Jones, 66, of Magnolia, who died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Trinity CME Church of Magnolia with the Rev. Al Brewer officiatin­g.

Burial will follow in Kendrick Chapel Cemetery in Willisvill­e, under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service.

Obituaries

HELEN S. CHERRY Helen Sehon Cherry, of El Dorado, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 6, 2017 at the age of 87 years. She was born on Dec. 14, 1929 in Huttig, Arkansas, to Grant and Maggie Sehon.

She married H.C. Cherry on Nov.

20, 1948, and they made El Dorado their home. She was a long time member of Westside Baptist Church and especially loved her ladies Sunday School Class.

Helen worked for over 25 years in the Union County Clerk’s Office.

Her family was her main focus in life. She was selfless in her love, care, and support for her children. She truly exemplifie­d a Proverbs 31 woman.

She was preceded in death by; her parents, her husband, three brothers, two sisters, one grandson, and one son-in-law.

Those left to lovingly cherish her memory are her five children, Jeff Cherry (Laura), Mark Cherry (Jennifer), Chris Cherry (Gina), Joy Walthall (Ronnie, deceased) and Jay Cherry (Suzy). She adored each of her twelve grandchild­ren; Stephanie Prock, Faith Cherry, Blake Cherry, Joseph Cherry, Kalen Cherry, Andrew Cherry, Ashlee Cherry, Rebecca Davis (Drew), Kati Blanchard (Vance), Will Walthall, Ian Cherry (Jennifer) and Megan Cherry; 17 great grandchild­ren; and 2 greatgreat grandchild­ren.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm with service to follow at 1:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel on Dec. 9, 2017 with Rev. Keith Dodson officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church, 2400 West Hillsboro, El Dorado, Arkansas or John R. Williamson Hospice House, 2301 Champagnol­le Road, El Dorado, Arkansas.

JOHN MCLELLAND John McLelland, 64, went to be with our heavenly Father on Dec. 3, 2017. He was born on Dec. 20, 1952 and was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sue McLelland; two sisters, Joanna McLelland and Robin Ellison and two grandchild­ren.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Janice McLelland; one son, Michael (Rachel) McLelland; one brother, Roger (Vicky) McLelland; one sister, Kim (Gary) Bennet; three stepsons; one stepdaught­er and 11 grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at College Avenue Church of Christ in El Dorado. Funeral will be held at

2 p.m. following visitation, with Pastor Kent Jobe will be leading the services.

Cremation services have been entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service of Jacksonvil­le.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Life Touch Hospice.
