Dragons upend Bears

ARKADELPHI­A Junction City won two games in the Southwest Classic Baseball Tournament this weekend. The Dragons beat Woodlawn 10-7 in eight innings Saturday and improved to 5-2 on the season.

Keelan Hodge went 5-for-5 with a two-run double that plated the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Brock McGoogan had two hits, including a tworun double, which tied the game at 6-6 in the sixth inning.

Jack Smith and Ty Disotell both singled in runs and Charles Hoof had a sac fly RBI. Bryce Ware, Clay Jolley and

Tanner McLelland all had singles in the game.

Hodge started on the mound and went four innings. He allowed four runs on two hits with three walks and hit one batter while striking out eight. McGoogan pitched the final four innings and earned the victory. He gave up three runs on two hits with three walks and one hit batter. He struck out five.

On Friday, the Dragons beat Ouachita 7-6.

Jolley went 3 2/3 innings, surrenderi­ng six runs on two hits with three walks and one hit batter. Hodge earned the win in relief, allowing no runs on no hits in 1 1/3 innings.

McGoogan had a double and drove in three runs. Hodge had a double and two RBI. Smith had two singles and drove in a run. Hoof drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Junction City lost to Horatio 5-1 in the opening game on Thursday.

Disotell was the starter, throwing four innings and giving up three runs on three hits with three walks, one hit batter and two strikeouts. Ware pitched two innings, allowing two runs on one hit with three walks, one hit batter and three strikeouts.

Junction City’s only hits were by Hodge, Cody Lee and Jolley, who drove in a run.
