POWER RANKINGS
Breaking down the SEC
1. Alabama (3-0):
The Crimson Tide averages 39 points per first half. Maybe Texas A&M will push it into the third quarter.
2. Georgia (3-0):
Still in Alabama’s shadow for the moment, which might be just where Kirby Smart wants them.
3. Mississippi State (3-0):
MSU fans are being cautioned not to “overlook” Kentucky before Dan Mullen’s return. They’ve come a long way.
4. LSU (3-0):
Coach O has gotten off that dang ol’ hot seat and is now using it to grill some good ol’ crawfish jambalaya.
5. Auburn (2-1):
Hopefully this comment comes through clearly because there’s been a lot of interference here lately.
6. Texas A&M (2-1):
There will be needless comparison of their Alabama outcome with the Clemson score, but the Ags will show up.
7. Kentucky (3-0):
Fascinating test with Mississippi State to see if UK is (sorry for the racing pun) a “dark horse.”
8. Missouri (3-0):
They couldn’t. The Tigers couldn’t ride Drew Lock to a win over Georgia and control of the SEC East. Could they?
9. South Carolina (1-1):
The Gamecocks’ game with Marshall was (rightly) cancelled but wasn’t sorely missed. Extra prep for Vandy?
10. Vanderbilt (2-1):
The Commodores almost didn’t Vandy at the end in South Bend. Almost.
11. Florida (2-1):
Remember when people griped about Gators-Vols being “so early” in the SEC schedule? They could play it on Easter now and it wouldn’t matter.
12. Ole Miss (2-1):
If you think about it, isn’t that last game what eventually happens to all land sharks?
13. Tennessee (2-1):
Vols controlled UTEP easily but are they ready for prime time?
14. Arkansas (1-2):
Thanks to the fakeout punt return by North Texas, the Hogs couldn’t even lose without ESPN exposure.
