2 found dead in wrecked car near highway in Arkansas Ozarks

LESLIE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas State Police say a state trooper discovered two decomposed bodies inside a wrecked vehicle along U.S. 65 in the Ozark Mountains.

State police spokesman Bill Sadler says the vehicle was crashed near a tree line along the highway near Leslie, about 75 miles (120 kilometers) north of Little Rock. Sadler tells the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that the area often has thick foliage but a trooper happened to see the vehicle this week.

Sadler says authorities have sent along information to police in Warrensburg, Missouri, to see if the remains belong to two people were reported missing there more than a month ago. But Sadler emphasized that no identification has been made yet of the bodies, which will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for autopsies.

Washington County election officials fix error on ballot

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Election officials in Washington County says they've fixed a mistake that affected some ballots in races for a state representative seat and a justice of the peace position.

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports that one street in Fayetteville, Sinclair Avenue, was placed in the wrong precinct. Washington County Election Commission Director Jennifer Price says 17 voters — out of the 44 registered voters who live on the street — cast ballots before the mistake was discovered.

Price says the glitch was been fixed and the remaining voters will receive the proper ballot at the polls. The 17 voters who already cast ballots will receive a special ballot in the mail with the correct race.

Price says the error was discovered Tuesday night and fixed by Wednesday morning.
