PARKERS CHAPEL - Parkers Chapel’s fourth-quarter rally fell short Thursday against Nevada, which held on for a 42-30 victory in girls basketball action. The Lady Trojans fell to 1-1 on the season while the Lady Bluejays improved to 3-5.

Nevada used its size advantage in the paint to dominate both backboards. Parkers Chapel had no answers for Bracelynn Glover, who scored 23 points on the low block.

The Lady Trojans managed just one field goal in the first 11 minutes of the game. Nevada built a 13-2 first quarter lead.

PC’s only points in the quarter came on a fast break layup by Hope Wooten with 5:54 left in the first.

The Lady Trojans didn’t score again until a free throw by Kaylin Waller with 4:47 left in the second.

Still, PC stayed in the game by holding Nevada to just two points in the second quarter.

The Lady Trojans trailed 15-7 at the half. Glover scored 10 points in the third quarter as Nevada built a 29-13 cushion going into the fourth.

The Lady Trojans were down 35-20 with 5:17 left to play when they extended the defensive pressure.

Nevada appeared tired and PC began to bite into the lead. Macie Wood hit a short jumper before Ali Looney had back-to-back steals and layups. Kamryn Cross hit a jumper to cut the deficit to 35-28 with 2:22 remaining.

But, Glover was Nevada’s stabilizer. She hit a free throw and then scored in the paint to push the lead to 10. Looney’s layup pulled PC to within 38-30 but Camyia Cody and Kayla Butler hit two free throws apiece down the stretch.

Looney led the Lady Trojans with eight points and four steals. Ciara Pharr had five points. Cross scored four with eight rebounds. Drue Thomas and T.K. Burson had four steals apiece.

PC was 9-of-18 at the line. Carolyn Dixon and Cody chipped in with eight points and six points, respectively, for Nevada.
