Obituaries LENORA H. EVANS

Lenora Hanley Evans, 91 of Conway went to be with the Lord Friday, November 16, 2018 peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born Saturday, January 15, 1927 in Bossier

City, Louisiana to the late Andrew Edwin and Daisy Fuller Hanley. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Van H.

Evans and one brother.

Lenora is survived by three daughters

Lori Leffel (Keith) of Edmond, Oklahoma,

Joyce Reed (Doug) of Crossett, Arkansas,

Jan Cantwell (Jeff) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and son Steve Evans (Marti) of Conway,

Arkansas; twelve grandchild­ren, and eighteen great-grandchild­ren, and a host of family and friends who all loved and will miss her dearly.

Lenora was a homemaker and Christian. She and her husband served the Lord together for more than forth years. The family plans to have a memorial service to honor her life at a later time. DOROTHY F. HARRIS HUX

Dorothy “Faye” Harris Hux of Junction City, Arkansas at the age of 94 went to her well-deserved heavenly home on November 17, 2018 at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home, El Dorado, Arkansas to be with loved ones that have gone on before her but most importantl­y to be with her Heavenly Father Jesus Christ.

Born December 30, 1923 in Union Parish, Louisiana to Charlie and Dollie Yossett Harris, she was the oldest of seven children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lavelle Hux who died in 1985, an infant daughter, Carole, three grandchild­ren, Alan Hux, Melissa Hux and Donald Hux. Also one sister, Mary Lee Hux, two brothers-in-law, Clarence Hux and Wilton Stephenson and one sister-in-law, Lynn Harris.

She is survived by four children: Marvin Hux (Beverly), Kevin Hux (Kaye), Linda Love (David) and Wanda Clements (Wayne). Also five grandchild­ren: Jared Hux, Lori Davis, Brandie Parker, Melanie Love, and Stephanie Clements and seven great grandchild­ren and two step great grandchild­ren. Two brothers: Charles Harris (Lynda) and Vic Harris. Three sisters: Zelma Stephenson, Patsy Mason (Ken) and Charlene Towers (Clyde) and a host of nieces and nephews. Also, special friends, Lynda Harris, Bonnie Wood, Virginia Frisby and Janette Farrar. As a graduate of Spearsvill­e High School, she caught the eye of a country boy from across the state line and married Lavelle Hux on October 17, 1941. War was imminent and times were hard and uncertain. Being use to the farm life, she moved to her husband’s farm in the Olive Branch/Mt. Moriah Community near Junction City where she remained for the next 77 years.

She worked side by side with our Dad doing farm chores and in the fields to provide for their family. They raised us in a Christian home where they taught us the value of hard work and perseveran­ce. She was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church until it closed. She then attended Beech Grove Methodist Church near Spearsvill­e and also Junction City United Methodist Church. She had a beautiful voice and used it to sing praises to God in the church choir. She loved her church families very much. She also loved attending the activities of Mt. Union Baptist Church’s Golden Agers and loved her friends there as well.

She was a great cook and always hosted the family get togethers of her large family. She made the best butter roll pie. She worked crossword puzzles and crypto quote books all her life and her mind stayed sharp until the angels came. She led a full, blessed life and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Visitation will be November 19, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Young’s Funeral Home.Family will be at the home of Marvin Hux, 664 Feedmill Road, El Dorado, Arkansas. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Olive Branch United Methodist Church, Junction City with Rev. Myron Ford, Dr. Johnie Adkins and Rev. Mary Depper officiatin­g, with burial to follow at Olive Branch Cemetery. Pallbearer­s are Jared Hux, Joey Davis, Wayne Husbands, Danny Lee, Mark Pumphrey and Monty Pumphrey.

MELVIN O. PENNINGTON

Melvin O. Pennington, 88, of Junction City, Arkansas passed away on November 18, 2018 at Hudson Nursing Home. He was born on October 3, 1930 in Junction City, Louisana to Harvey and Ruby Pennington.

Melvin spend most of his career in the trucking and logging business in South Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Teri Jordan and grandson Allen Pennington.

Melvin leaves behind his children Shelley (Buddy) Norris of Junction City, Arkansas, Wayne Jordan of Crossett, Arkansas, Mark Pennington of El Dorado, Arkansas and Lane Pennington of Junction City, Arkansas; his grandchild­ren Charlie Jordan of Crossett, Arkansas, Meagan Norris of Fort Worth, Texas, Amy Harrington of Hamburg, Arkansas and Zach Pennington of Monroe, Louisiana; eight great-grandchild­ren; his siblings Raymond Pennington, Howard Pennington both of Junction City, Arkansas; Carolyn Foster and Nelda Hogue both of Spearsvill­e, Louisiana and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Blanchard Springs Baptist Church, Junction City, Arkansas with funeral services to begin at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be held at Beech Grove Cemetery, Spearsvill­e, Louisiana.
