Book signing at Jefferson Street Books today
ElDo native co-author focuses on retirement planning
Jefferson Street Books will host a book signing today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring El Dorado native John Shrewsbury promoting his book, “Your Retirement Should Be More: How to Harness the Power of More in Your Retirement” with co-author Janet Walker.
Produced by Gen Wealth, a financial advising firm, the book focuses on the benefit of having a financial advisor for retirement, said Ginger Young, Marketing and Event Planner and Content Editor for Gen Wealth.
“They will learn the value of having a financial advisor for planning for retirement,” Young said.
The book shows readers how having retirement savings is not the same as having a retirement plan, according to a press release.
“In my 30 years in the financial industry, I have found that people are often fooled into thinking that they have everything covered with retirement
simply by having an account like a 401k or IRA [Individual Retirement Account],” Shrewsbury said in the press release. “We wrote our book to make sure they have the education on these issues to make sure their retirement is everything it needs to be.”
According to the press release, the authors use their combined experience in the financial services industry to help readers make the most of their retirement. Young said GenWealth’s financial planning services are client-, education- and strategy-based.
“Our belief is that retirement really can be more for many people, but it takes an understanding of points that go beyond traditional investing. We have always focused on providing wise, knowledgeable counsel, with the intent of doing so in a practical, applicable way for people. It is our hope this book does exactly that in helping people prepare for their retirement,” Walker said in the press release.
Shrewsbury and Walker are not expected to give a presentation at the event. Charlie Skinner, the manager of the El Dorado GenWealth office, will also be in attendance.
“We want to be able to get to know our clients,” Young said. “We value that relationship.”
