Several arrests; initial hearings are scheduled

An arrest was made Monday in one of two separate terroristic threatening incidents that were reported within three hours of each other.

Jennifer M. Lowery, 51, who has given an address of the 900 block of South Texas Avenue, is scheduled for a first appearance hearing Wednesday in the 35th Judicial District Court on felony charges of first-degree terroristic threatening and violation of an order of protection and a misdemeanor charge of third-degree assault on a family or household member.

Lowery was arrested Monday after El Dorado police responded to a report of an unwanted person at the South Texas residence. Officers were called to the scene at approximately 10 a.m.

Lowery’s husband, who made statements indicating that he and Lowery are estranged, told police that a neighbor notified him that Lowery was walking toward the residence.

The complainant said Lowery stopped at the intersection just south of the residence and began yelling at him and issuing threats.

He told police that she had called him earlier and issued terroristic threats against him and “whatever (woman) he was with.”

He also noted that Lowery has been harassing him since an Order of Protection was served against her last month and that she violated the terms of the order by coming within 200 feet of his residence.

The complainant and the witness provided similar accounts of the incident, with the complainant adding that Lowery ran north through a wooded area before police arrived on the scene.

Police said they located Lowery in the area of Wilson and Hawthorne a short time later and took her into custody without incident.

At 12:30 p.m. Monday, police were called to a residence in the 1900 block of South West Avenue in reference to another incident in which terroristic threats were reportedly issued.

A man told officers that his daughter informed him that her ex-fiance had directed the threats toward the complainant, noting that his daughter called off the wedding between the two during a dispute between the couple on Sunday.

The complainant said the suspect made similar threats Saturday when he called the suspect and asked about a conflict between the suspect and the complainant’s daughter.

After learning that the wedding had been called off, the complainant said he again called the suspect Monday and “was met with hostilities.” He said then told the suspect to leave his daughter alone.

Another woman was arrested early Monday morning for allegedly violating an Order of Protection and other misdemeanor charges, including third-degree assault on a family or household member and criminal trespass.

Sherea R. Jones, 30, of the 400 block of South Flenniken, is expected to appear in district court June 10 for a hearing on the charges.

Officers were called at 1:22 a.m. Monday to the South Flenniken residence after Jones’s grandmother reported that Jones “had gone crazy and was tearing the house up.”

The complainant said she tried to get Jones to leave her bedroom and Jones began throwing items and overturning and damaging furniture.

The woman said she suspected Jones of using narcotics and police said Jones later admitted consuming methamphetamine about an

hour before the incident occurred.

On May 1, police responded to another report in which a man was alleged to have violated an Order of Protection.

A man told officers that his adult son came onto his property in the 1200 block of West Eighth and broke a window in his camper.

Police said it appeared the suspect used a folding chair to break a window in the complainant’s camper, noting that the chair was laying next to the camper.

Fire

On Saturday, El Dorado police and firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle fire at an apartment complex in the 600 block of Champagnolle Road.

A woman told police that a neighbor notified at approximately 2 p.m. her that her pickup truck was on fire.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and were unable to determine the cause of the fire.

Police said the liner in the bed of the truck had melted. No other damage was reported.
