Free virus evaluations Thursday in Warren
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has partnered with the Arkansas Rural Health Partnership, Bradley County Medical Center, the City of Warren, Mainline Health Systems and Warren School District to establish a drive-through evaluation site for south Arkansas residents to be screened for COVID-19.
The evaluation clinic is free and will be held from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7 at Brunson Elementary/ Warren Middle School at 210-212 Scobey Dr. in Warren. One does not need
to be a patient of UAMS to be seen; the clinic is for anyone experiencing flulike symptoms, including fever, cough and shortness of breath, according to a press release.
“This screening is not limited at all. We can see all residents regardless of city/county,” a spokesperson for the Arkansas Rural Health Partnership said in an email correspondence.
Not all who are sick will need to be tested for COVID-19, the release notes. Physicians at the clinic will evaluate all who come to determine whether they need to be tested; if they are not tested, they will receive instructions on caring for themselves and their families at home.
Those who are tested will receive a phone call with their results, typically several days after they are tested. They should self-quarantine at home until they receive clearance.
Those who feel well and are not experiencing symptoms should continue to stay home as much as possible, wash their hands regularly and practice social distancing, according to the release. Gov. Asa Hutchinson has also urged state residents to wear a mask when in public places where social distancing isn’t possible.
UAMS also offers an online screening tool at uamshealth.com/healthnow. Phone screenings are available through the UAMS Health Hotline at 800-632-4502.
