Union County’s confirmed cases of COVID-19 grew by one from Sunday to Monday for a total of 61 cases.

Testing in the county, meanwhile, has also increased. According to the Arkansas Department of Health, 15 tests, including the positive one, were returned from Sunday to Monday. Since last Monday, negative tests results for the county have increased by 38. A total of 285 tests have returned negative here.

The county has not seen any deaths attributable to COVID19, and 31 of the 61 individuals who have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus have recovered, meaning 30 cases are currently active.

Yesterday marked Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s stated target for starting the official ‘re-opening’ of the state’s economy. Gyms and workout facilities were allowed to re-open yesterday, with social distancing measures in place.

Amanda Cooley, public relations manager for the SHARE Foundation, issued a press release stating HealthWorks will re-open tomorrow. The gym will phase their re-opening, as the state is; starting tomorrow, HealthWorks will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and will remain closed on Sundays for deep cleaning, according to the press release.

HealthWorks members will be screened upon entry and will be asked to sign a Member Pledge in reference to state and gym social distancing guidelines. Group classes will be offered at limited capacity on a firstcome, first-served basis starting May 11. The pool, track, locker rooms, showers, steam rooms and spa will be closed through the first phase of HealthWorks’s re-opening.

The state’s cases increased by only 27 from Sunday to Monday, according to the ADH, which is significantly fewer than the average increase of cases residents have seen. Last week, Arkansas had an average of 70 new cases per day, though last Wednesday the caseload increased by 123 and Saturday it only increased by 51.

Arkansas had a total of 3,458 at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Eighty people in the state have died from COVID-19. Recoveries increased by 17 from Sunday for a total of 2,016, meaning 1,362 cases are currently active.

The United States had 1,176,905 cases at 5:30 yesterday, with 180,303 having recovered and 68,387 having died. Globally, there are 3,435,894 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 239,604 people have died from the virus.
