Snoop Dogg, MusicFest rescheduled for 2021
MusicFest 2020, including headlining performances by Snoop Dogg and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, has been canceled; their performances have been rescheduled for October, 2021 Main Street El Dorado (MSE) and Murphy Art District (MAD) announced on Monday.
The organizers cite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for cancelling the event.
“While we are heartbroken that MusicFest will not be happening this year, the COVID-19 outbreak cannot be ignored. We will be back next year, bigger and better than ever,” Pamela Griffin, president and CEO of MAD, said in a statement released Monday.
This is now the second rescheduling of Snoop Dogg and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. They were originally supposed to perform on April 25 of this year; but due to the initial national lockdown to combat the spread of the virus, the performance was postponed.
“We just cannot provide the award-winning event we have provided in the past due to restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic” said Beth Brumley, MSE executive director, in the statement. “Main Street El Dorado wants our community to be safe.”
This announcement follows MAD’s announcement in June disclosing the details around the rescheduling of the Avett Brothers with special guest Tyler Childers, another concert that was originally planned for this month that also had to be postponed because of COVID-19. That concert has been rescheduled for August 14, 2021.
Snoop Dogg and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony will now headline MusicFest 2021, which is scheduled for Oct. 1 and 2, 2021, MSE and MAD said in a statement released on Monday. Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new date. Tickets purchased for Snoop Dogg’s Oct. 3, 2020 show before August 16, 2020 may apply for a refund by December 31, 2020.
Ron White’s comedy show is still scheduled for Dec. 17, 2020. The MAD Farmers Market is also scheduled to re-open in September following the fall harvest.
