LLOYD HENRY CORLEY

Lloyd Henry Corley, 86, of Smackover passed away Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.

Born June 10, 1934 in Louann, Arkansas, he was the son of William Edna and

Ola Mae Fincher Corley.

Mr. Corley was an independen­t oil producer and a founding member of Bible

Baptist Church. He also served his country in the

US Army.

Preceding him in death along with his parents were his siblings, Bill Perry,

Mildred Perry Daniel, Frank

Corley, Brenda Corley

Darden and a son-in-law,

Jim Jameson.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Nada Corley, sons; Mark Corley (Tonya), Tim Corley (Cheryl) all of Smackover, Mike McKee (Tamara) of Benton, AR and a daughter, Marla Jameson of Smackover. Also surviving are a sister, Myrna Gathright (Bernard) of Smackover, brothers; Gary Corley of El Dorado, Mervyn Corley (Janice) of Lisbon, and David Corley (Judy) of Smackover. Surviving grandchild­ren are, Kevin Corley (Jana), Brian Corley, Ashley Hendricks (Brandon), Haley Corley, Jim Bob Jameson (Leslie), John Jameson (Morgan), Allison Englert (Steven), Michael McKee (Erin) and Grant McKee, along with 9 great-grandchild­ren and a host of other family members.

Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Smackover Cemetery with graveside services to begin at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. J.D. Weido officiatin­g. Interment will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Mr. Corley’s nine grandchild­ren will serve as pallbearer­s.

GEORGETTA BUGGS

Georgetta was born on June 25, 1968 in Smackover, Arkansas, to George Lee Sr. and Johnnie Tatum Lee. Georgetta was preceded in death by her mother, Johnnie Lee, her brother George Lee, Jr., and her sister Katie Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her father,

Emily Buggs both of El

Dorado, Arkansas; one son, Wallace Buggs, Jr.; two grandsons, Caleb and

Cordell Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews.

ELIZABETH CLAIRE HENDRICKS Elizabeth Claire Hendricks, of El Dorado, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at age 68, following a long illness. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend to all whose lives she touched.

Elizabeth was born on

December 7, 1951, in

Shreveport, Louisiana, to Marvin and Margaret

Colvin. She graduated from

El Dorado High School in

1969, and then attended

Northeast Louisiana

University, where she majored in French and furthered her love of the

French language and culture during a study abroad program in Paris,

France during the summer of 1972. She received her bachelor’s degree in French from NLU in 1973. Shortly thereafter, she returned to her alma mater, El Dorado High School, and later also joined the faculty of Washington Middle School, where she taught French to hundreds of students before her retirement in 2005. On May 3, 1975, she married Harold Dennis Hendricks, and together, they raised two daughters, Ashley and April.

Elizabeth had a passion for gardening and would often spend many hours nurturing the plants that adorned her home. Like her parents, she was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was devoted to her faith. When she was not teaching or working in her garden, she could often be found studying her wellworn Bible or reading a mystery novel.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; her parents, Marvin and Margaret Colvin; and her brother, Cliff Colvin. She is survived by her two daughters, Ashley Windham (Pearson), of Oxford, Mississipp­i; and April Hendricks (Keith Bartlett), of Henderson, Colorado; three grandchild­ren, Pearson, John Colvin, and Anna Carlisle Windham, all of Oxford, Mississipp­i; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be held for Elizabeth’s family at Young’s Funeral Directors, at 508 Champagnol­le Road, El Dorado, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2020, and friends are also invited to join the family from 5:00-7:00 that evening.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020, in the chapel of Young’s Funeral Directors, with Bro. David Ruehr of St. Paul United Methodist Church presiding. Interment will follow at Urbana Cemetery, in Urbana, Arkansas.

The funeral service will be virtually streamed through Facebook on the St. Paul United Methodist Church page for Elizabeth’s family and friends who are unable to attend due to COVID-19. For those attending in person, masks will be required, and physical distancing will be observed.

BETTY JO HOOVER

Betty Jo Hoover, 90, of El Dorado passed away, Monday, September 14, 2020 at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home.

She was born July 30, 1930 in Springhill, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas

Mae West, her brother,

William Douglas Talley, and her husband, James Clyde

Hoover.

Betty Jo was a member of

Ebenezer Baptist Church, a homemaker, housewife, daycare owner, and “coolest” Mee-maw! She loved soap operas, fishing, and anything to do with children.

She is survived by three children, Susan Moreau

(Jason) of Joplin, Missouri; Thomas Crow (Sandy) of Russellvil­le, Arkansas; and Mark Crow (Joe) of Grand Prairie, Texas; three stepsons, John Hoover, Clyde Hoover, and Ed Hoover; her brother Ray Gene Talley of Texas; six grandchild­ren and six great grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at Bailey Funeral Home in El Dorado.

JERRY CLEVELAND LORENZ

Jerry Cleveland Lorenz, 81, of El Dorado passed away Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. He was born May 14, 1939 in El Dorado, AR to Charles “Harry” and Jareda Evans Lorenz.

He worked as a draftsman for Mid-States Pipes for many years and later worked for Tissue Drafting and Design. Jerry was a member of Junction City

Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his first wife, Carline Lorenz; sister

Jeanette Lorenz Millican; and nephews, Eric Millican and Kenneth D. Millican.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Devault Lorenz; daughter, Carla Lorenz Henry (Randy); step-daughters, Kelly Payne (Doug), Polly Petty (Terry), Jenny Toombs (Mark); grandchild­ren, Derrick Henry (Hollis) and Clay Henry, Summer Reames, Kamden Reames, Tyler Petty, Olivia Wood (Austin), Maggie Toombs, Ella Toombs, Ruby Toombs; great granddaugh­ter, Elizabeth Ann Wood; niece, Kim Vaughn (Ricky); nephews, Tim Millican (Cindy), Jonathan Messer (Ashley); brother-inlaw, Jerrell Millican; and aunt, Virginia Williams.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors and with Donnie Ossman officiatin­g. RUFINO “TINO” MARTINEZ, JR.

Rufino “Tino” Martinez, Jr., 74, of El Dorado passed away on September 13, 2020. He was born in East Los Angeles, California to the late Rufino Martinez, Sr.

and Jessie Hinojsa.

He was a loving father, grandfathe­r, great-grandfathe­r and friend who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching

JAMES ALLEN MATTOCKS

James Allen Mattocks was born in El Dorado, AR on December 18, 1957 and passed away on September 5, 2020. He graduated from El Dorado High School and was an Eagle Scout. Following high school he attended both University of Louisville and Georgia College.

James was a kind soul that loved visiting others, pen correspond­ence, talking with family and friends, reading, and music. He was a deep thinker who had a lifelong interest in the literary works of Thomas Pynchon as well as the mystic philosophy of Gurdjieff.

James lived in Benton, AR for the last three decades where he attended and supported St. Matthews Episcopal Church. A devout Christian, James lived by the word of the Lord, living simply while sharing and serving others. He also volunteere­d at Habitat for Humanity and supported other nonprofit organizati­ons across Arkansas. James was a two-time recipient of the Governor’s Volunteer Excellence Award, most recently in 2015.

James is survived by his three brothers Philip Mattocks (Karen) of Ellensburg, WA, Paul Mattocks of El Dorado, AR, and Ben Mattocks of Harriet, AR and six nieces and nephews.

A private family Memorial Service will be held at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Benton, AR.

The family requests that memorial gifts be made in support of feeding families, kids and seniors in need through the Arkansas Foodbank or to St. Matthews Episcopal Church.

Sister Idera Roberson was born December 2, 1937, the daughter of Arthur and Fannie Beauers.

JOE HENRY THOMPSON

Joe Henry Thompson, age 80, of El Dorado, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 at his residence. Joe was born on November 21, 1939 in El Dorado, AR to the late Lillie Bell Wood Thompson and Henry Harmon Thompson.

Joe was a lifelong member of Galilee Baptist Church. He worked for Prescolite Inc. as a supervisor for 20 years before his retirement. Joe loved taking motorcycle trips on his trike that he built himself. He especially enjoyed attending bike rallies, working on motorcycle­s and camping with his family

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Bell Barnes and Henry Harmon Thompson

Those left to cherish his memory include; his loving wife of 57 years, Annie Thompson of El Dorado; one daughter, Jennifer Davis and husband Greg of Little Rock; three grandchild­ren, Austin Davis, Ashlyn Davis and Anna Davis, all of Little Rock, and one brother, David Harmon Thompson of Haynesvill­e, Louisiana.

BLANCHE MARIE WINBORN

Blanche Marie Winborn, 91, El Dorado, AR, died on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home. Born on August 25, 1929 in Caddo Mills, TX; she was the daughter of Claude and Lillie Maples Turner.

Blanche enjoyed life with her family. She loved going to church, parties, playing games, and watching game shows. More recently, Mother loved dominos.

She loved her buddies but had no mercy, numbers were her game. She will be greatly missed. She was a member of Hillsboro Street

Church of Christ. Blanche retired from Warner Brown

Hospital’s central supply.

Blanche was preceded in death by her Parents, her husband Carl Winborn, her sisters Pauline Arthur and Ruth miller, a son Bobby Winborn, grandson Phillip Winborn, son-in-law’s Danny Lewis and Victor Nipper.

Survivors are daughters Shirley Selmon, Carolyn Merritt (Kenny), Barbara Pepper (Ricky) and Donna Nipper; a beloved friend Monica Powell; along with 12 grandchild­ren, 19 great grandchild­ren, 6 great great grandchild­ren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services by Young’s Funeral Directors will be at 10 am, Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Eddie Sexton officiatin­g.
