PATRICIA PROTHRO RICHMOND

Patricia Prothro Richmond of Athens, TX passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 following a brief battle with cancer. She was 84 years old.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2021 at Arlington Memorial Park with internment to follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

IRA ELLIOTT JR

Ira Elliott Jr, lovingly known as “Buddy,” was born in Dubach, LA., on August 20, 1937, to the late Ira Elliott Sr and Lealor Smith Halton. He was raised by his maternal grandparen­ts, the late Steve and Jennie O’ Guinn Smith, in Mt. Holly, AR.

On February 3, 1962, he was united in holy matrimony to Jeanette Gordon.

Ira’s relatives who passed before him are Brother Albert Halton, special aunt and Uncle John, and Irene Elliott.

He leaves to cherish beautiful memories his wife of 59 years Jeanette Elliott, son Reginald Elliott, daughters Cynthia Ervin, Sophia Broadnax (Michael), Bridgette Harris (Michael) Nine grandchild­ren. Eight great-grandchild­ren Sisters Vivian Halton, Brenda Clark. Helen Marie McNeil of Atlanta, Georgia, Special cousins John and Darnell Elliott. brothers-in-laws Tommy Gordon (Bobbie), George Gordon, Leon Gordon (Sharon), Orlando Gordon sisters-in-laws Margaret Highsmith (Fred), Mattie Goodwin, Beatrice Sidney, Inez Stith, Lavern Gordon, Cassandra Fernandez (Larry), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

THOMAS ALVIN RAPE

Thomas Alvin Rape, 85 of El Dorado passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at his residence.

Born August 26, 1935 in Rusk County, Texas, he was the son of James S. and Elma E. Austin Rape. Mr. Rape was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and of the Methodist faith. Mr. Rape was a pipefitter and a member of Union 208. He was a graduate of Texas A. and M. University.

Mr. Rape was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Dunn Rape of El Dorado, a son Scott Rape of San Diego, CA and a daughter, Rhonda Valdez of Denver, CO.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Young’s Chapel with Dr. J. D. Weido officiatin­g. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Young’s.

Interment will be held Monday, April 19, 2021 at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock, AR 72120 with military honors.

CHARLES EDWIN PRESTRIDGE

Charles Edwin Prestridge, 83 of Sheridan, Arkansas went to his Heavenly home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 15, 2021. He was born March 5, 1938 at Dr. C. E. Kennedy’s Medical Clinic in Smackover, AR, the son of the late Leslie Josh Prestridge and Letha Mae Johnson Prestridge. He grew up in Smackover where his dad worked in the oil industry. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his siblings: Edgar Prestridge, of Vivian, LA; L. J. Prestridge, Jr. of Smackover, AR; Edna Mae Prestridge Cottrell of El Dorado, AR; Eloise Prestridge Holmes of St. Charles, MO.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn Ann Andrews Moore Prestridge of Sheridan, AR; sons: Russell Allen Prestridge (Jeni) of Hot Springs, AR and Charles Wesley Prestridge (Donna) of Oden, AR; daughter: Sharon Gayle Prestridge of Jackson, MS; Melanie Moore Rothwell (Jim) of Arkadelphi­a; Krista Moore Pyle (Michael) of Edwardsvil­le, IL; and Holly Moore Baldridge (David) of Louisville, KY; grandchild­ren: Alexa Paige Prestridge of Little Rock, AR; William Prestridge of Hot Springs, AR; Stephen Rothwell of Arkadelphi­a; Mary Rothwell of Fraser, CO; Rebecca Baldridge of Lexington, KY; and Chase Pyle of Edwardsvil­le, IL. He also leaves behind his faithful dog, Sasha.

After graduating Smackover High School, Charles played football for the Arkansas Razorbacks with Coach Frank Broyles. He then entered law enforcemen­t in El Dorado, AR. While on the police force Charles became a licensed EMT and Paramedic. Charles devoted his entire career to law enforcemen­t before retiring as Police Chief in Hampton, AR. After retirement he and his wife, Janis, relocated to Greenevill­e, TN where they enjoyed the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and were members of Greene Hills Baptist Church. While in El Dorado Charles was a member of the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Boys Club Athletic Coach for football and baseball, and the Fraternal Order of Police.

In his younger days he enjoyed rodeoing, bull riding, calf roping, and showing his horse, Joe Cracker. He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing, camping, and hunting. Charles liked to say, “I have lived my life to the fullest and have done everything I wanted to do and enjoyed it. I would like to be remembered for being honest and truthful.”

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 17, 2021 in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery at 702 North Mosby Avenue in El Dorado under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors, with Bro. Michael Daugherty, Pastor of First Baptist Church Sheridan presiding. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm until service time at the cemetery.
