DOUGLAS “DOUG” LANCE HATCHER

Douglas “Doug” Lance Hatcher passed away on August 09, 2021 at University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 50.

Doug was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on April 10, 1971 to Mary Alice (Patterson) and Durwood Lance Hatcher

Hatcher of Norphlet, Arkansas; grandmothe­r, Cora Hatcher of Smackover Arkansas; two sisters, Shelly Lout and husband Jonathan of Parkers

Chapel, Arkansas, and Jennifer

Molnaird and husband Clayton of Alexander, Arkansas; step-mother, Charlene Powell and husband Ray of Norphlet,

Arkansas; two bonus sisters,

Callie Powell of Mena, Arkansas and Sara Powell-Gallien of

Springdale Arkansas; one niece,

Allie Ford of Parkers Chapel, Arkansas; three nephews, Trace Lout of Parkers Chapel, Arkansas Zane Molnaird of Alexander Arkansas, and Mason Molnaird of Alexander Arkansas; two great-nieces, Isabella Ford of Parkers Chapel, Arkansas and Kenzlie Grace Ford of Parkers Chapel, Arkansas; as well as numerous friends and Border Patrol brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Alice (Patterson) Wood and Durwood Lance Hatcher II; paternal grandparen­ts, Bertie Marie Hatcher and Durwood Lance Hatcher, Sr.; and maternal grandparen­ts, Mildred and Pat Patterson.

Doug graduated from Smackover High School in May of 1989, after graduation he immediatel­y joined the United States Army and served four years before he was honorably discharged in 1993. While serving in the Army, Doug was stationed in Germany for two years before be called to action in Desert Storm. After serving in Desert Storm, Doug spent his final year stateside at Ft. Polk, Louisiana where he later honorably discharged from.

Once out of the Army, Doug knew he still had a calling to serve his country and joined the Union County Sheriff’s office, where he stayed for 5 years before joining the United Sates Border Patrol. While with the Border Patrol, Doug moved up the ranks, working in Carrizo Springs, Texas, Del Rio, Texas, and Uvalde, Texas as well as being a part of the Mounted Patrol.

Doug was known as a hard-working man, but he also well known throughout the communitie­s he worked in. He oversaw the Uvalde Pee Wee Football League as well as coached, if you went to the charity Golf Tournament put on by the Border Patrol, you were sure to see Doug there showing his support.

Doug was a loving father, dependable brother, proud American, and genuine friend to many. The loss of him will be felt through all the lives he touched with his selflessne­ss, quick wit, and ability to make people laugh.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M at Young’s Funeral Director’s in El Dorado, Arkansas.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 10:00 A.M at the First Baptist Church of Smackover, Arkansas with interment to follow at Smackover Cemetery.

CHARLES SELLERS

Charles Sellers, 83, was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on September 3, 1937 to the late Coyt and Stella (Ford) Sellers. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha (Mott) Sellers of El Dorado, Arkansas; daughter, Sonya Thurlkill of El Dorado; son, Chuck Sellers of Three Creeks; granddaugh­ters, Kayla (Nick) Cannady of Calera, Alabama and Amanda (Josh) Brown of El Dorado; grandsons, Jacob (Anna) Thurlkill of Conway, Arkansas, Kyle (Jessica) Sellers of El Dorado, Colton Sellers and Coyt Sellers of Junction City, Arkansas; great-granddaugh­ters, Kinsley and Karlie Cannady and Lennon Sellers, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Coyt and Stella Sellers; his mother-in-law, Irene Gandy; and son-in-law, Jeff Thurlkill. Charles graduated from Junction City High School in May of 1955. He was drafted by the Army and served for two years before being honorably discharged in 1962. Charles, his brotherin-law, and several employees built the beloved KTVE tower also known as the “Christmas tree” in downtown El Dorado. Charles strung the first set of lights on the tower. He was the proud owner of Sellers Steel Supply and later Steel Deals, Inc. He provided the south Arkansas area with steel for over five decades.

Charles was a beloved parent, grandparen­t, and great-grandparen­t. He coached many baseball and basketball teams throughout the years. He was a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held 2:00PM, Sunday, August 22, 2021 with a funeral services immediatel­y following officiated by Bro. Johnny Johnstone at New Hope Baptist Church. Interment will be at Jolley Cemetery under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Home. GREGORY “GREG” WAYNE STEVENSON

Gregory “Greg” Wayne Stevenson, 49, of Centerton, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 in Centerton, Arkansas. He was born on September 27, 1971 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Wayne Stevenson and the late Jeanette Stevenson. Greg grew up in Calion, Arkansas, where he was a local baseball champion and graduate of Norphlet High School. Greg went on to attend the Arkansas Law Enforcemen­t Training Academy. Greg fell in love with and married Maria Lynna Falcon on May 27, 1993 at the Calion Baptist Church in Calion, Arkansas. Greg and Maria are the proud parents of Brent and Courtney who they raised in Centerton, Arkansas. Greg proudly dedicated his life to the service of the citizens of Arkansas. Lieutenant Greg Stevenson was proud to be an active member of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office for the last fourteen years and served the citizens of Union County as a Deputy Sheriff for an additional seven years from 1999-2006. While in law enforcemen­t, Greg was awarded numerous commendati­ons for extraordin­ary service in the line of duty and his service during Hurricane Katrina.

Nothing brought Greg more happiness than spending time with his family. Greg loved the outdoors and spent his time away from work vacationin­g with his family on camping trips, at the lake, on the beach, or at family reunions. Greg was always active outdoors and had a passion for baseball, pickleball, and kayaking. A few of his favorite family vacations included family camping vacations and his Falcon family reunions at Camp Wood, TX. If you knew him by “Booger”, “Cookie”, or just Greg, you know he never met a stranger. Greg loved to help others and was always eager to jump in and help out friends and strangers alike.

He is survived by his wife Maria Stevenson of 28 years, and children Brent and Courtney. He is also survived by his father Wayne Stevenson, step-mother Loye Stevenson, brother Gerald Stevenson, father-in-law Ralph Falcon, mother-inlaw Connie Falcon, sister-in-law Becky Falcon, brother-in-law Lloyd and spouse Jamie Falcon, sister-in-law Rae Falcon, fourteen nieces and nephews, and eight great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Jeanette Stevenson and nephew Christophe­r Jones.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday August 17th from 5:008:00 PM at Fellowship Bible in Rogers, AR. Funeral services will be held on August 18th at 10:00 AM at Fellowship Bible in Rogers, AR. A police motorcade will lead guests on a procession­al past the Sheriff’s Office then on to graveside services at the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Cemetery in Gravette, AR. Mickey Rapier of Fellowship Baptist will officiate the services. The Benton County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard will honor his memory by serving as pallbearer­s.

BENNIE SHELTON

Bennie Shelton was born on January 29, 1940, in Strong, Ar, to the late Alex Shelton Sr. and Neilie Rogers.

On January 29, 1964, he married the love of his life, the late Yvonne Cargile. They shared 57 wonderful years together and raised four beautiful children.

Bennie Shelton departed this life at the age of 81, on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at his home. He is preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Shelton, one son, six brothers, and two sisters.

Bennie’s memories will be cherished by one son: Michael Shelton, two daughters: Alice Blackman (Brian) and Josephine Harris, one sister Iteria Dixon, and two brothers: Lawrence Shelton (Kathy) and Alex Shelton Jr., eleven grandchild­ren, twenty great-grandchild­ren, and one great-greatgrand­child, special friends Otis Lee, Jerry Burson and Mattie Boyette. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.

BROTHER CHRISTOPHE­R PAUL THOMAS

Brother Christophe­r Paul Thomas was born August 26, 1965, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to the late Alvin James “A.J.” Hall and Vera Mae Thomas.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, grandparen­ts, three brothers, Harvey McHenry Thomas, Alvin Keith Thomas, and Orland Hall.

Paul is survived by five brothers, Albert J. Moore of Minden, Louisiana, Alvin James (JoAnne) Hall of Plymouth, Minnesota, Demetrius Hall of Ft. Worth, Texas, Scottie O. Hall and Tracy Hall, both of El Dorado, Arkansas; four sisters, Marsha Grimes, Pam Hall, and Vada (Brian) Smith all three of El Dorado, Arkansas and Cassandra (Jerry) Ross of Dallas, Texas; step-mother, Betty Hall of El Dorado, Arkansas, one uncle, T.J. Hall, and one aunt, Bessie Moore both of El Dorado, Arkansas; two special friends, Deborah Moore and Toni Crutchfiel­d; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss his sense of humor and great smile.
