Schedule presents plenty of tests for Trojans this season

- By Jason Avery News-Times Staff

A year after winning their first playoff game since 2010, Parkers Chapel stumbled to a 2-8 record in 2020.

This year brings some upheaval to the Trojans’ schedule.

With Strong playing eight-man football, the Trojans have only four conference games with Bearden and Junction City on the road, while the Trojans will host Fordyce and Hampton.

The Trojans have six games in their non-conference slate with five coming before their league opener against Bearden on Oct. 8

Parkers Chapel will be on the road for three of their first five games, opening the season with a two-game road swing against Smackover and Lafayette County before welcoming Prescott in their home opener.

The Trojans then head to Magnet Cove before hosting Murfreesboro for homecoming on Sept. 24.

After a bye week, the Trojans head to Bearden for their aforementioned 8-2A opener.

Although Strong may have departed the league, Junction City and Fordyce rank among the top teams in the 2A ranks, and Parkers Chapel coach Elliot Jacobs said his team will face tough

challenges on a weekly basis.

“Like every year in this conference, each game is tough,” Jacobs said.

Jacobs added that PC's non-conference slate will get his team ready for the 8-2A.

“Our non-conference schedule is against programs with a history of success,” Jacobs said.

For the Trojans to bounce back, Jacobs said it will be about paying attention to details.

“We need to focus on the small details Monday through Thursday, and fight like crazy each Friday night.”
