“Only Murders in the Building” Season 1

Get a clue with “Only Murders in the Building,” the new true crime comedy series coming to Hulu this Tuesday,Aug. 31. Selena Gomez (“A Rainy Day in New York,” 2019), Steve Martin (“The Pink Panther,” 2006) and Martin Short (“Schmigadoo­n!”) star as three true crime-obsessed strangers who suddenly find themselves at the center of a case.When there is a grisly and suspicious death inside their very own exclusive Upper West Side New York apartment building, the trio suspects it may be a murder. Recording their own true crime podcast as they go to document the case, the group unravels a mystery deeper than they could have ever imagined. From the brilliantl­y creative minds of creators Steve Martin, Dan Fogelman (“This Is Us”) and John Hoffman (“Looking”), this darkly hilarious series also stars Aaron Dominguez (“Shaft,” 2019), Vanessa Aspillaga (“Hustlers,” 2019), Ryan Broussard (“Jack Reacher: Never Go Back,” 2016), Michael Cyril Creighton (“Spotlight,” 2015) and Jeena Yi (“Manifest”).

“Spell” (2020)

Omari Hardwick (“Army of the Dead,” 2021) stars as Marquis Woods in “Spell,” the Supernatur­al horror film crash-landing onto Hulu Tuesday,Aug. 31.While flying home to rural Appalachia, Kentucky, for his father’s funeral, the plane carrying Marquis and his family crashes during a sudden and violent storm.When he comes to, Marquis finds himself locked in the attic of a female traditiona­l Hoodoo practition­er named Eloise (Loretta Devine, “Family Reunion”), who has a sinister plot and a penchant for dark magic. Marquis has to fight for his life to escape and save his family before Eloise can go through with her plan.This dark thriller comes from director Mark Tonderai (“The Five”) and writer Kurt Wimmer (“Point Break,” 2015).The film also stars Lorraine Burroughs (“Hard Sun”), Hannah Gonera (“A Horse Called Wish,” 2019), Kalifa Burton (“Birthday,” 2021), John Beasley (“Shots Fired”),Tumisho Masha (“The Wild”), Peter Butler (“Troy: Fall of a City”), Andre Jacobs (“Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom,” 2013) and Steve Mululu in his profession­al debut.

WHAT’S NEW ON NETFLIX “Money Heist” - Season 5

WHAT’S NEW ON DISNEY+ “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” (2019)

The X-Men franchise’s most recent installmen­t, “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,” comes to Disney+ on Friday, Sept. 3.A sequel to 2016’s “X-Men: Apocalypse,” this film tells Jean Gray’s (Sophie Turner, “Game of Thrones”) origin story as she goes through her transforma­tion into Phoenix.With powers triggered by a cosmic force that enhances her psychic abilities, Jean struggles against herself to control her powers and avoid hurting those around her.As her powers begin to corrupt her, the X-Men must decide if saving her life is worth risking the world. “Tomorrowla­nd” (2015)

Blast off into the future with “Tomorrowla­nd,” touching down on Disney+ this Friday, Sept. 3.This family-friendly action adventure follows former boy-genius Frank (George Clooney, “Ocean’s Eleven,” 2001) and curious teenager Casey (Britt Robertson, “Big Sky”) as they are brought together by their bound destinies. Casey is transporte­d to Tomorrowla­nd, a city filled with robots and futuristic buildings, whenever she touches a letter “T” lapel pin. Casey recruits Frank, an inventor and former Tomorrowla­nd visitor, to help her, and the two end up on a journey to uncover the city’s mysteries.
