To the Editor:

The splendor of Christmas is here in downtown El Dorado. The lights around the courthouse square. Poinsetta tinsel along the light poles, on the Viaduct bridge. Fragrances in the air. This past Wednesday night I went to choir practice at my church First Presbyterian. I carried my cell phone and took pictures of the Christmas lights. The first one I made was the KTVE Christmas tree. This was started back, when I was a small child in 1966. People came by the grove, to see it. The only thing is I wish that KTVE was still there at 400 West Main. I wish they could renovate that facility and put new Broadcasting equipment and cameras in there. They could do news from both El Dorado and Monroe. Just like the Huntley/Brinkley report as they did back in the 1960’s. I well remember those days. There are even times I wished that I lived in the days of radio, before the era of television. Last night I watched the live Annie on NBC. It was a great production. The actor’s were great. Annie, Daddy Warbucks, Ms. Hannigan, and the kids, who were the orphans. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Donald Putman El Dorado

To the Editor:

The recent Michigan school shootings is wrong and unaccpetable, like all other school and other kinds of mass public shootings. I applaud their local prosecutor for throwing the book at him and his parents, as they are accesories before the fact ,in they gave him free access to those guns of their’s. What were they thinking? As a teacher ,I am as stirred as the rest of my colleagues. Those of us in education should have the right to do the work we like doing, and our students the rights to a safe and good education. I hope

that no good brat will spend the rest of his days in prison and on a chain gang. I’m sorry Michigan is not a capital punishment state, or else he could and should get the chair or the noose. The Bible says: ”foolishness is in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction wil drive it far from him”. His parents should have took him to the woodshed and tanned his jacket. Also, read Deauter-noomy 21:18-21.Under the Law of Moses, incorrigables were taken out and stoned to death. There is no place in our schools for young punks, like him.On the same day, his parents were called by his teachers, conferring about his atittude and behavior in their classes. Kudos to the prosecutor for her tough stance and Godspeed to my colleagues everywhere.

To the Editor:

America was ordained by God, and established, a Constitutional Government of the people, by the people, and for the people. For over 200 years, Christian and moral leaders were elected to secure, protect, and maintain our Christian Heritage, and when necessary, defend the freedoms of our Great nation.

We no longer respect God’s moral laws, and our Constitutional and Personal freedoms are in grave jeopardy! Our Nations Leaders in Government, Business, Education, Financial institutions, Corporations, Courts, and even our Churches, have sold out to a socialist culture of profit, power, pride and prestige; turning their back on God and openly attacking the family and the moral foundation that has for centuries, guided the success of this Nation!

God has a set moral standard based on His Word, and He will not allow man to manipulate and change it! Judgment is mine Said ‘The Lord. ’Where are God’s Christian leaders and why is the body of Christ proving to be so feckless and unreliable in the face of adversity? It seems, the [5] fold ministry in our Churches have failed, in upholding God’s word, and teaching the people to stand in times of trial.

How can any person who claims to be a Christian, choose to vote for and approve leaders who actively ignore God’s will and never consider their actions? Those who choose to ignore these truths, do so at their own peril!

We are not fighting flesh and blood, but according to scripture; we are fighting principalities, powers, and the rulers of darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places. It is time for our church leaders; preachers, evangelists, teachers, pastors and, prophets to boldly stand against evil, and proclaim the truth of God’s word; calling out the sin and moral failure in America today!

America is standing at a time of decision, and is in a battle for the Heart and Soul of our Great nation. If the Church will unite, repent, pray, and stand; God promised to hear, forgive, empower, and lead. Contrary to popular opinion, God is not dead!

Thank you,

Royce Purifoy
