WHAT’S NEW ON PRIME

“The Expanse” - Season 6

The mission continues with the Season 6 premiere of “The Expanse,” available to stream on Prime beginning Friday, Dec. 10, with episodes airing weekly on Fridays thereafter. Based on the series of novels of the same name by James S.A. Corey (the joint pen name of authors Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck), this sci-fi epic follows the story of humanity hundreds of years into the future, when humans have colonized the solar system.With a fragile balance held between the colonies and war always too close for anyone’s comfort, James Holden (Steven Strait, “The Covenant,” 2006), Naomi Nagata (Dominique Tipper, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” 2016),Amos Burton (Wes Chatham, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1,” 2014) and their friends are ready to join the fight for the solar system against new and unexpected enemies. From series creators and writers Abraham, Franck and Mark Fergus (“Iron Man,” 2008), this six-episode season is directed by Breck Eisner (“The Crazies,” 2010). Shohreh Aghdashloo (“House of Sand and Fog,” 2003), Frankie Adams (“Mortal Engines,” 2018), Cara Gee (“Empire of Dirt,” 2013), Nadine Nicole (“Casual”), Keon Alexander (“Tyrant”), Jasai Chase Owens (“Loserville,” 2016), Samer Salem (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) and Vanessa Smythe (“Mrs.America”) return to star in the series.

“Christmas Again” (2021)

The old adage “Be careful what you wish for” gets a “Groundhog Day”-like spin in the new Disney original movie “Christmas Again,” making its debut on Disney+ on Friday, Dec. 10. Rowena (Scarlett Estevez, “The Grinch,” 2018) is a spunky, highspirit­ed 11-year-old who is anything but excited for Christmas.With her parents going through a rough divorce, an underwhelm­ing holiday celebratio­n with her sister, Gabby (Ashlyn Jade Lopez, “The Vampire Diaries”), and grandparen­ts Sofia (Priscilla Lopez, “Maid in Manhattan,” 2002) and Hector (Tony Amendola, “Stargate SG-1”) is the final straw for Rowena. When her wish for things to go back to the way they were — with her parents still together and all of their old holiday traditions intact — becomes a not-so-idyllic reality, Rowena finds herself living Christmas Day on repeat. To get her life back on track, Rowena must learn to accept her growing and changing family as they are. Directed by Andy Fickman (“Race to Witch Mountain,” 2009) and featuring a screenplay by Doan La (“Keep Hope Alive,” 2020), the film also stars Gary Anthony Williams (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows,” 2016), Daniel Sunjata (“The *

“For Auld Lang Syne” (2021)

The Peanuts gang is back with the all-new holiday television special “For Auld Lang Syne,” available to stream on Apple TV+ on Friday, Dec. 10. Charlie Brown’s grandmothe­r can’t visit for the holidays, and the whole Peanuts gang is disappoint­ed by the news. In an effort to cheer up herself and everyone else, Lucy decides to throw her own New Year’s party while Charlie Brown tries to accomplish just one of his New Year’s resolution­s before midnight. Based on the beloved “Peanuts” comic strip by Charles M. Schulz, “For Auld Lang Syne” is written by Alex Galatis and Scott Montgomery (“The Snoopy Show,”) and Clay Kaytis (“The Christmas Chronicles,” 2018), who also directs the film. Charles M. Schulz’s sons, Craig and Bryan Schulz (“The Peanuts Movie,” 2015), executive produce the special along with Cornelius Uliano (also of “The Peanuts Movie,” 2015), Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates and WildBrain Studios.And for those who can’t get enough of Charlie Brown and his friends,Apple TV+ is also streaming more beloved specials from the Peanuts franchise, including “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” (1966), “A Charlie Brown Thanksgivi­ng” (1973) and 1965’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

WHAT’S NEW ON NETFLIX “The Unforgivab­le” (2021)

Don’t miss the gritty new drama “Unforgivab­le” when it lands on Netflix this Friday, Dec. 10. Based on the British miniseries “Unforgiven,” written by Sally Wainwright, the film stars Sandra Bullock (“Miss Congeniali­ty,” 2000) as Ruth Slater, a woman recently released from prison after committing a violent crime.The story follows Slater as she attempts to reenter society, a task made all the more difficult by an angry public that refuses to forgive

her for her past. Learning to live with her damning history, Ruth goes on a journey to track down the sister she was forced to leave behind. Executive produced by Wainwright, “The Unforgivab­le” is directed by Nora Fingscheid­t (“System Crasher,” 2019) and features a screenplay by Peter Craig (“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1,” 2014), Hillary Seitz (“Insomnia,” 2002) and Courtenay Miles (“Mindhunter”).The film also stars Jon Bernthal (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” 2013), Vincent D’Onofrio (“Men in Black,” 1997), Aisling Franciosi (“The Nightingal­e,” 2018),Viola Davis (“How to Get Away With Murder”), Richard Thomas (“The Waltons”), Linda Emond (“Lodge 49”), W. “Back to the Outback” (2021)

Take a wild ride with the new computeran­imated children’s film “Back to the Outback,” premiering Friday, Dec. 10, on Netflix.Tired of being looked at like they’re monsters, a group of Australia’s most poisonous and deadly creatures break out of their zoo enclosures to find their way back to their homes in the outback with the relentless zookeeper, Chaz (Eric Bana, “Dirty John”), hot on their trail. From spiders, snakes, lizards, crocodiles and sharks to koalas, platypuses and more, this fun new film goes on a “dangerousl­y cute” adventure with some of Australia’s most famous critters. Directed by Harry Cripps (“Supernova”) and Clare Knight (“Kung Fu Panda,” 2008), “Back to the Outback” is written by Cripps and Gregory Lessans (“Without Remorse,” 2021).
