JAMES “JIM” JUSTISS MILLER
James Justiss Miller (Jim), age 84, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, in Shreveport, LA after a lengthy illness.
Jim was born on February 21,
1938, in El Dorado, AR; to James
Carl and Frances Justiss Miller.
Jim graduated from El Dorado
High School in the class of 1956.
He received an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech and later received a master’s degree in Structural Design from the
University of Arkansas Little
Rock. While attending Georgia
Tech, he was a brother of Phi
Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Alpha
Nu Chapter. He served as an officer in the United States Air
Force, achieving the rank of
First Lieutenant. Upon retirement from a long career as a Civil Engineer, he enjoyed managing his timber land and operating his oil and gas interests. His claim to fame was giving Elvis Presley a ride to Shreveport before he was famous. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and Poppy till the very end.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Janis Cook Miller of Little Rock; devoted daughters, Melinda Miller Cooksey of Bossier City, LA and Lesley Miller Wilson (Marty) of The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren Donovan James Cooksey, Nicholas Dodd Cooksey, Reid Wilson, and Abby Wilson.
Graveside services by Young’s Funeral Directors will be at 10am, Monday, April 18, 2022 at Fredonia Methodist Church Cemetery in with Rev. Amy Machen officiating.
The family would like to thank Margaret Solomon for her continued care during his last months at home.
