Mary Ellen Houldridge (known by most as Meg) was born June 10, 1935, age 87 passed away from her earthly home on June 30, 2022, at the Willson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia, surrounded by her loving sons, daughters-in-law and niece. Mary Ellen was a lifelong nurse who in her words “never worked a day in her life, she went to play nurse.” Mary Ellen was loved by all of her patients.

Mary Ellen was quick to tell everyone, “I may be short but I fight dirty.”

Mary Ellen graduated from Junction City High School and later attended Warner Brown School of Nursing.

She worked at Warner Brown Hospital for 25 plus years.

Upon her retirement from Warner Brown Hospital, she received her degree in Psychiatri­c Nursing. She worked for South Arkansas Regional Health Center in El Dorado, Arkansas for 19 ½ years.

Mary Ellen was an active member of Three Creeks Baptist Church until she moved to Albany, Georgia. While living in Albany, she attended Sherwood Baptist Church and was a member of Agape Sunday School Class. She was also a Pink Lady at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Mary Ellen was also a former member of West Side Baptist Church in El Dorado, AR.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bobby Joe “Bob” Houldridge, brother, Joe McGoogan, mother, Mildred Ellen McGoogan, father, Dewitt McGoogan, sisterin-law, Peggy McGoogan, grandson-in-law, Brandon Hogg, and great grandson Mathew Hogg.

She is survived by her three sons, Steve Houldridge and wife Alice of El Dorado, Jim Houldridge and wife Joy of Albany, GA, and Dwayne Houldridge of El Dorado, grandchild­ren, Heather Gilmore (Shaun), Haley Houldridge (Carter Bryant), Faxton Isolda (Aaron), Sara Brown (Steven), Leland Morris (Lacey Brown), Bret Cottrell, Sarah Hogg, Wesley Houldridge (Regina), Shea Hays (Crystal), great grandchild­ren, Delaney Gilmore, Anniston Gilmore, Collins Gilmore, Bentlie Brown, Meredith Isolda, Parker Brown, Weston Brown, Hunter Houldridge, Jacob Houldridge, Brendan Hogg, Zachary Hogg, Norah Hogg, and Hadleigh Hays, two brothers, Gary McGoogan and wife Sue, John McGoogan, two sisters-in-law, Sue Houldridge and Carolyn McGoogan and several nieces and nephews. Among her many special friends were Bruce Gilmore, Maurice Rogers, and Linda Still.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at Three Creeks Baptist church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2022, with Rev. Bob Inmon officiatin­g. Interment to follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, AR

The family will be at the home of Heather and Shaun Gilmore, 375 Oleta Ave. El Dorado, AR.
