DONALD WAYNE TANNER
Donald Wayne Tanner, 90 of El Dorado entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 after suffering a stroke. He died peacefully at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.
Born August 10, 1932 in El Dorado, he was the son of Arthur T. and Ruby Idell Combs Tanner. Don met and married the love of his life, Melba Risinger, on November 5, 1954.
They had 68 wonderful years together.
Don worked in the oil business most of his life, founding Tanner Oil in 1983. He was a hard worker and was still very much involved in the everyday workings of the business.
With his knowledge of the oil industry he was able to help numerous others get started in the business as well.
He was kind and generous, always helping others in any way that he could. Don loved God first and his family above everything else. He loved gospel music and often shared it with others. He never met a stranger and if you spent any amount of time with him he would know who you were kin to and everything else there was to know about you.
Don was a faithful member and deacon of East Faulkner Church of Christ. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his family.
Preceding him in death along with his parents was a son, Jeff Tanner and a brother, James Ralph Tanner.
Survivors include his wife Melba Risinger Tanner, a son Donald Scott Tanner (Sheryl) El Dorado along with grandchildren; Courtney Tanner (Damaris) of Spearsville, LA and Jordan Blackmon (Matt) of El Dorado. Surviving great-grandchildren are Tessa Tanner, Bryn Blackmon, and Drake Tanner and step-great-grandchildren, Georgia Blackmon and Abel Blackmon.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2022 at Young’s. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at East Faulkner Church of Christ with Scott Johnson officiating. A private entombment will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
