Norphlet Public Library reopens

-

The Norphlet Public Library has been “reimagined, remodeled and is rebranding” according to a press release from the city of Norphlet, and celebrated with a community event on Saturday at the library’s location on West Padgett Street in downtown Norphlet.

“The library has been completely remodeled with new flooring, paint, and bookshelves. We’ve also created a kids corner with a tent reading nook, toys, learning games and puzzles. We call it the Camping Out with a Good Book. Come take a sneak peak of what the future will be at our library,” said librarian Kelsey Parker.

The library, Parker said, is “now more than just a place to check out books – it’s a place where people can come together and connect.”

New additions include a coffee bar, free Wi-Fi and various programs for kids and adults.

“In March we start our cookie decorating class with Leslie Jameson, and Bingo will be held twice a month for adults during the day,” Parker said.

Norphlet Mayor Jim Crotty, the City Council members and local supporters helped provide resources, encouragement and donations through the months of planning and remodeling, according to the release.

“The library helps fill the gap between education and community. Our library is once again offering programs, expanded resources and services for the entire community. We invite everyone to experience a new world of possibilities at this safe, comfortable place for learning and creating,” Crotty said.

Parker thanked Crotty, who she said has “gone above and beyond to help make these ideas a reality.” Parker added that she believes Norphlet deserves this reimagined new library and is proud to offer more services to those who live in the community.

“The library has always been a vital part of our community, but now more than book lovers can come to learn, explore and connect with others. Visitors will be able to check out books, use the upgraded computers, fax, copier, or just relax. Courteous conversation is encouraged,” Parked continued.
