BENNIE L. ENDEL, JR

Bennie L. Endel, Jr., 71, of El Dorado, AR passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.

Bennie was born October 26, 1951 in El Dorado, AR to the union of Bennie L. Endel, Sr. and Wanda Silvertoot­h Endel.

He was preceded in death by his father. Bennie was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and retired from Lion Oil Company after 45 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper and a proud American. Bennie was a loving son, husband, father and grandfathe­r who loved his family especially his grandchild­ren.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Janey Hux Endel of El Dorado, two daughters, Kristan Vaughn and husband John of Cabot, Holly Murphree and husband David of Conway, two sons, Shane Endel and wife Tracy of Cabot, Ben Endel and wife Ashley of Louisville, KY, his mother, Wanda Endel of El Dorado, three sisters, Shawna Pate of El Dorado, April Leffingwel­l and husband Byron of Hot Springs, Lisa East of Magnolia, two brothers, Danny Endel and wife Beth of Wesson, Dennis Endel and wife Deann of El Dorado, six grandchild­ren, Kendel, Kannon, Micah, Eli, Jamie, and Adella, and a grandson on the way, two great grandchild­ren, Lorraine and Landon.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Bailey Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Jody Domingue officiatin­g. Interment will be in the Olive Branch Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, AR.

JEROLYN ANN TAYLOR

Jerolyn Ann Taylor, 85 of Smackover, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, AR following a lengthy illness.

Born August 10, 1937 in El Dorado, she was the daughter of Thomas Gaines “Kitty” Tompkins and Marjorie Rebecca Griffin Tompkins. Jerolyn grew up in the Wesson community, she met Max Taylor at the age of 16 and they were married on December 17, 1953. After their marriage she worked at Hall Drug Store and later had several jobs, including KRBB television station and in the dental office of Dr. Ralph Benton and Murphy Oil Corp.

She later began nursing school at Warner Brown Hospital and was a graduate of the first nursing class at Oil Belt School of Nursing in 1966. During several decades as an LPN she was employed at Warner Brown Hospital and Union Memorial Hospital (now Medical Center of South Arkansas). Jerolyn also had worked in nursing homes, as a private duty nurse along with employment in the offices of Dr. George Smith, Dr. Aubrey Talley and Dr. Paul Henley.

Jerolyn was not only a dedicated medical profession­al but was a devoted wife to Max and mother to her children and grandchild­ren. She was a long time member of Maple Avenue Baptist Church in Smackover.

Preceding her in death along with her parents were daughters, Margaret Caroline Taylor, Judi Maxanne Hill and Teri Leigh Calhoun and brothers, Fletcher “Sonny” Tompkins and Gary Tompkins. Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Max O. Taylor of Smackover and a daughter, Vickie Taylor of Camden. Surviving grandchild­ren are Steven Taylor Puska, Candice Dee Calloway, Margaret Caroline Calhoun and Amelia Ann-Sarah Calhoun and sisters-in-law. Sue Tompkins of Ruston, LA and Rosie Tompkins of Wesson, AR along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Young’s. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in Young’s Chapel with Dr. Benji McCann officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Smackover Cemetery under the direction Young’s Funeral Directors.

Serving as pallbearer­s will be Jim Yeager, Bob Willett, Cliff Swilley, Steve Sharp, John Tompkins and Steven Taylor Puska.

PATRICIA ANN HOSFORD

Patricia Ann Hosford, 94, of El Dorado, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Courtyard Health and Rehab in El Dorado.

Born July 19, 1928 in Poyen, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Elmer and Sophia Williams Hemme. Mrs. Hosford had been a secretary at Murphy Oil Corp before her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

Patsy’s natural beauty won her Stuttgart’s Ricebird Queen Honors in her late teens. Playing cards was a favorite hobby and she was an accomplish­ed Bridge player competing in local Bridge clubs for many years. Having grown up in a large close family, Patsy loved and was loved by many nieces and nephews along with many great and loving friends of all ages throughout her long life.

Patsy was lifelong devout and humble Christian while a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in El Dorado.

Preceding her in death along with her parents were her husband, Robert E. Hosford, a daughter, Terri Lea Hosford, son, Blake Hosford, sisters Florence Chivalette, Phylis Fitts, Betty Jo Flannigan and Jane Hilton along with brothers, Clyde Hemme and Ed Hemme.

Survivors include a son, Jeff Hosford of El Dorado, two sisters, Jimmie Hopson of Rowe, AR and Sue McAnally of Thomasvill­e, GA. Surviving grandchild­ren are Lindsey Hosford of Little Rock, Marc Hosford of North Little Rock and Drake Hosford of El Dorado.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2023 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. Cremations services entrusted to Young’s Funeral Directors.

EILEEN JACKSON

Eileen Jackson, Also known as our Nanna, was born September 30, 1951, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Willie Jackson and Thelma Jackson. Eileen transition­ed on February 8, 2023, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. Willie and Thelma Jackson, one granddaugh­ter Victoria Smith, and four brothers, Victor Jackson, Harold Jackson, James Willie Jackson, and Clarence Jackson. Four sisters Marylee Jackson, Beverly Jackson, Francis Jackson, and Zola Smith; one niece Greta Jackson; two nephews, Michael Payne, and J.D. Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories to her son Alonzo Jackson (Taji) Jackson, daughter Brittney Tate (Victor Smith), two brothers Lawrence (Anita) Jackson Edgar (Geraldine) Jackson, and five grandchild­ren Dominique Jackson, Destiney Jackson, Bria Jackson, Laila Jackson, and Skylar Smith. Three great-grandchild­ren, Camden Jackson, Caden Jackson, and Ayanna Gilbert, special friend Monica George, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Eileen will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

TELVIN T. MALONE

On February 8, 2023, Telvin T. Malone was called home to a new land free from sickness, sorrow, and pain. Telvin was born on January 13, 1977, to the late Alvin Malone and the late Sophia Malone.

He was also preceded in death by his sister Joyce Ann Malone and Mother in Law Louise Graham.

To his memory, he leaves the love of his life, his wife Tameka Malone, five children Quarcynthi­a Jackson, Denike Hopkins, Te’onna Malone, India Singleton, Ta’Lashia Malone, three sisters Linda Lowery, Lisa (Billy) Hoof, Toshia (Michael) Rodgers, Three brothers Randy (Mary) Malone, Alvin Malone Jr., and Howard Malone, Father in Law Willie Thompson Jr., grandmothe­r Velma Daniels, great aunt Thelma Malone, four Grandchild­ren Karsen Sims, Keirsen Sims, K’Ceyeon Jackson, Da’Khya Williams, and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Telvin also loved his dogs dearly, smoke and Redmama.

RAYMOND MICHAEL “MIKE” PHILLIPS

Raymond Michael “Mike” Phillips, 73 of El Dorado passed away at Baptist Health in Little Rock Monday, February 13, 2023.

Born February 11, 1950 in Little Rock, he was the son of Herbert Grady and Eva Pearl Boothe Phillips. Mr. Phillips had been a mechanic for El Dorado Chemical and was of the Baptist faith. To those that loved him most he was affectiona­tely known as “Pop”.

Preceding him in death along with his parents were his wife, Cathy Phillips and a daughter, Cassie Jo Phillips.

Survivors include his daughter, Jenny Lee (John) of El Dorado, a sister, Brenda Garrett (Larry) and a brother, Danny Phillips (Debbie) all of Magnolia. Surviving grandchild­ren are John Tyler Lee (Brooklyn) and Callie Ray (Dakota) all of El Dorado along with a special niece, Kristen Nolan (Michael) of Franklin, TN and his lunch partner, Becky Childs.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2023 at Young’s. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023 in Young’s Chapel with Michael Nolan officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

DR. PAUL RAINEY

Dr. Paul Rainey was born on August 9, 1944, to the late Sammy and Bobbie Lee Rainey Sr. in Mount Holly, AR. He departed this Life on February 11, 2023, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.

On June 07, 1980, Paul married Laverne Furlough-Gray (Vern). They were blessed with 43 years of marriage and 45 years together.

Paul was preceded in death by five brothers: Timmy, S.J. Culp, John Culp, Eddie Rainey, and Sam Rainey Jr., and one sister: Ethel Lee Palmer.

His loving memories will be cherished by his wife (Vern), Laverne Rainey. Daughters, La Quita Rainey (Curtis), Barbara (Kennon) RaineyBoul­dwin, and Christa Rainey. Bonus sons: Arnold (Ann) Furlough and Brian A. Gray. Bonus daughters: Ingrid (Bryant) Trapp, and Sonya Smith. One brother Jerry Rainey, and one sister: Francis Gray, Paul was blessed to have twenty grandchild­ren: and thirteen great-grandchild­ren, along with a host of special nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. COSTELLA BENTON WHITE

Mrs. Costella Benton White (92) was born May 12, 1930, to the late Walter Benton, Sr., and Lena Henderson Benton in Strong, Arkansas.

Costella departed her earthly life on February 13, 2023.

Costella was preceded in death by her husband, Augusta White; three children, Andrew L. White, Sr. Jasper J. White, and Pauline White Whitefield; her parents, Walter Benton, Sr., and Lena Henderson Benton; her paternal and maternal grandparen­ts; two brothers, Walter Benton, Jr., and Otis Benton; and two sisters, Ella Mae Christian and Bernice Mays.

Costella is survived by four daughters, Pearl Welch (James); Rose White-Bailey (Walter), Gloria Robinson (Bill), and Dorothy White Steward; two sons, James E. White, Sr. (Trena) and Alvin L. White; sisters, Ruth Davis, Cassie Benton, Erma Banks and Jean Bernard (Jeff), and Mae Lee Hartley; eighteen grandchild­ren, and a host of great-grandchild­ren, great-great-grandchild­ren, great-great-great-grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss her tremendous­ly.
