Wildcats roll to 10-0 victory over Pine Bluff
El Dorado’s pitching staff has been on a roll of late.
After Justin Dumas and Jonas Davis collaborated on a no-hitter with 18 strikeouts on Tuesday, Holden Lowry followed that effort with a two-hit shutout to lead El Dorado to a 10-0 victory over Pine Bluff in a 5A South tilt Friday at the El Dorado/Union County Recreation Complex.
Lowry walked two and struck out 12 to give El Dorado starters four straight outings with 10-plus strikeouts.
Lowry also recorded his second straight complete game and has a total of 25 strikeouts over his last two starts.
On Tuesday, the Wildcats pulled away late to top the Zebras, but that wasn’t the case in the rematch on Friday, as El Dorado scored three runs in the first and two in second to take a 5-0 lead before ending the game via the sportsmanship rule with three runs in the fifth.
Jake Webster-Moore powered the Wildcats’ offense by going 3-for-3 with three doubles and two RBIs.
Doubles were a theme for the Wildcats, as eight of their 10 hits were two-base hits.
Hunter Lawrence went 2-for-2 with a walk and scored three runs for EHS, and it was his two-run double with two outs in the first that opened the scoring. He scored moments later on the first of Webster-Moore’s three doubles.
The Wildcats scored both of their runs in the second with two outs with Lowry helping himself with a double that scored Peyton Howard, who bunted for a base hit.
Sam York, who went 2-for-3 in the win, followed with an RBI double of his own to make it 5-0.
The Wildcats scored single runs in the third and fourth innings to pad their lead.
In the third, Lawrence singled and scored on Webster-Moore’s second double of the game.
Shadarious Plummer doubled to lead off the fourth, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Lowry to give EHS a 7-0 lead before the Wildcats ended it in the fifth.
In addition to his sterling performance on the mound, Lowry helped his own cause by driving in two runs.
El Dorado (4-1, 3-1) hit the road to face Conway on Saturday.
