Jerry was born in Magnolia,

Arkansas on September 19, 1939.

He attended school in Camden and graduated from El Dorado high school in 1957. After high school, Jerry proudly served four years in the United States Marines Corps. As part of his service, he was a member of the honor guard for Senator Ted Kennedy.

Jerry had a distinguished forty year career in the metals industry. His career included leadership positions at DuCommun Metals and Supply, McCormick Steel Company, Kaiser Aluminum, as well as Harvey Aluminum and Martin Marietta. He spent the final years of his career as the General Manager of Vincent Metals in Dallas, Texas. Upon retirement Jerry returned to his beloved Arkansas.

Known lovingly as “Pop,” by our family, Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, son, and nephew. Pop loved every member of our family fiercely just as he loved tending to his home, yard, and gardens. One of his greatest passions was his fan becoming an avid and knowledgeable collector of brass fans from all time periods. Pop’s fanatorium was a world of wonder where our family shared many of our greatest memories.

Pop was a lover of music. He cultivated his passion and talent by playing the drums in a jazz band as a young marine. Pop was an amazing cook, making the most delicious spaghetti and Caesar salad you have ever tried. He grew sturdy trees and strong children with lots of care, water, and sunshine at his home of Mockingbird Hollow.

While our hearts are broken by this great loss, we take comfort in knowing his memory will live on through us and everyone he has met along the way. We will continue forward with his precious memory in our hearts. Every time we feel the breeze or hear the hum from one of his fans, we will know he is with us.

Visitation for Jerry will be Monday, August 14, 2023, 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at the Huttig United Methodist Church in Huttig, Arkansas. Interment will follow at Harper Springs Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, AR.

Jerry requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his name to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the Union County Animal Protection Society (UCAPS).

Linda was a remarkably kind and generous person - always giving more than what was required and asking for far less than she deserved. She loved easily, forgave quickly, and always tried to see the very best in others. Linda taught elementary school for many years in Harlingen, TX. First grade was her favorite, and teaching children how to read brought her great satisfaction. She also loved the simplicity, innocence, and hope of children’s books and kept many in her own home library. One of Linda’s greatest joys was cooking, and she spoiled those she loved with delectable meals and baked goodies; she spoke often of how fun it would be to own a bakery with her granddaughter. Linda loved to laugh, and her warmth will be greatly missed.
