Edith Augusta Smith Gray-Nance, age 95, of Smackover, AR, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 14, 2023 in Virginia Beach, VA. She was known by many as “Gussie.” She was born on May 19, 1928 in the Silverhill Community near Mt Holly, AR to the late Oce Gol “O C” Smith and Jewell Irwin Smith. Gussie was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Smackover and was the owner of the Classic Dress Shop in Smackover for many years. Gussie was preceded in death by her husbands, Loyd Gray and Tom Nance; her daughter, Cindy Kirby; three brothers, Bud, Chester, and Bob Smith; and by two sisters, Morene Couch and Mae Williams. Those left to cherish her memory include; one son, Tom Gray and wife Mary of Virginia Beach, VA; five grandsons, Jim Carroll and wife Shannon of Brock, TX, Sam Kirby and wife Mandy of Magnolia, AR, Nick Kirby of Hope, AR, Tom Gray and wife Melissa of Hingham, MA, and Jordan Gray and wife Yulia of Virginia Beach, VA; one granddaugh­ter, Erin Gray of Portsmouth, VA; fourteen great grandchild­ren; Cole, Sydnee, Jewell, Sadee, Karyn, Kaci, Nick Jr, Mandie, Samantha, Beau, Stone, Hudson, Owen, and Charlotte; three great-great grandchild­ren; three siblings, Laura B. Kinard, Charlotte Perritt, and Jerry Smith, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Smackover, with Rev. Robin Roark officiatin­g. Interment will be in the Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, AR Pallbearer­s will be; Johnny Gray, Donald Brock, Jim Aycock, Bob Willett, Scott Couch and Barry Couch.
