An El Dorado man was sentenced to a total of 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections last week after pleading guilty to charges in multiple cases including simple robbery and fleeing.

Aric Arnezz Nathan, 18, also had his probation revoked after pleading true to the charge as part of a series of plea agreements that resolved the case, according to court records.

In a case from September 2023, Nathan initially faced charges including aggravated robbery, theft of property (firearm) and defacing a firearm.

According to court records, Nathan allegedly participated with one other suspect in the armed robbery of a man who was attempting to sell an AR15 rifle on Facebook marketplace in July 2023.

In August 2023, court records state, Nathan was arrested by the Smackover Police Department and “found to be in possession of the AR-15 that was reported stolen by [the victim].” He was later allegedly identified as the perpetrator by the victim in the case.

Nathan pleaded guilty to simple robbery in that case in January, and was sentenced to five years in prison last Thursday by Judge Spencer Singleton.

Nathan was sentenced to an additional five years in prison after pleading guilty to fleeing in connection to the August arrest by the Smackover Police Department, resulting in the total sentence of 10 years.

Nathan was previously sentenced in April 2023 to 10 years of probation after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit battery related to a 2021 shooting.

The guilty pleas in the cases were the result of plea agreements negotiated between the 13th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and Nathan’s attorney, listed in court records as Vicky Bussey Ingram.
