Friday, March 8 Parkers Chapel meetings

Parkers Chapel will have a Special School Board Meeting today at 5:30 p.m.

Zeta Phi Beta conference

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. will hold its 56th Annual Arkansas State Leadership Conference in El Dorado on March 8-9, 2024. Friday, March 8, is the opening program, which is free and open to the public. Mayor Paul Choate and Rep. Matthew Shepherd, Speaker of the Arkansas House of Representa­tives, will bring greetings. The Young Artists Studio (YAS) will perform along with other groups. This is the first time the Arkansas State Leadership Conference has convened in El Dorado.

The opening ceremony will be held at the El Dorado Conference Center at 7 p.m.

Harvey continues

SAAC’s production of “Harvey” continues tonight. Showtime is at 7:30pm. Ticket prices are $5 for students, $10 for SAAC members, and $15 for general public, and seats can be reserved on SAAC’s online https://buy.ticketstot­hecity.com/venue.php?org_id=610 box-office or by calling 870-862-5474.

Saturday, March 9 AMNR contest

The Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources will host from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. the annual National History Day regional contest. The museum is the regional host for Arkansas and this is the second year for the AMNR to host a contest. History Day is an exciting way for students learn about historical issues, ideas, people, and event. This program encourages academic achievemen­t and growth through project-based learning.

About 35 7th and 8th graders are competing and the award ceremony begins at 1:00 p.m.
