JOHN WEBSTER BEENE

John Webster Beene, 97, of El Dorado, AR, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, in North Little Rock, AR

John was born March 1, 1927 in El Dorado, AR, to Curtis Thomas Beene and Ethel Gunnels Beene.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise Elkins Beene and his second wife, Lois Stueart Beene, his sister, Sue Butler and husband Glen and brother, Billy Beene and wife Geneva, and son-in-law, Robert Curtis. John, affectiona­lly known as J. W., Jay and Johnny to his family and friends, retired from the Rock Island railroad where he spent his entire working career. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and proudly served his country in Austria in the immediate aftermath of the war when the United States, France, Great Britain and the Soviet Union occupied the country. He was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan. J. W. leaves behind his three daughters, Julie Curtis of West Monroe, LA, Lisa Stigall and husband Stuart of Baton Rouge, LA and Angie Jones and husband Joey of El Dorado. He is also survived by four grandchild­ren, Brian Curtis and wife Angela, Leigh-Ann Cascio and husband Paul, Matthew Stigall and Cody Jones and wife Kayla, seven great grand-children, Marinna and Dorian Curtis, Mallory, Marybeth and Emma Cascio, Kross and Chesney Jones, one brother, Jerry Beene of Hampton, and a host of nieces and nephews and his faithful friend and caregiver, Veronica Carter of El Dorado. J. W. is additional­ly survived by four bonus children along with numerous grandchild­ren and greatgrand­children.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2024 at Bailey Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Woodlawn Cemetery in El Dorado with his nephew and namesake John Beene officiatin­g. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, AR. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
