El Dorado, Smackover fall in conference clashes

The number six proved to be a lucky one for Lake Hamilton on Thursday, as the Wolves scored six runs in the second and fifth innings to top El Dorado 12-2 in a 5A South tilt.

Hayden Barton homered and drove in four runs for the Wolves (11-2, 6-1), who have won six of seven.

Lake Hamilton had 13 hits with Cameron Hale finishing 3-for-4, while Caleb Rouse, Kaden Pranter and Brody Fountain each finished with two hits in the win.

Pranter also drove in three runs with Hale adding two RBIs.

Easton Hurley fired a two-hitter to pick up the win. He walked two and struck out seven with one of the two runs he allowed being unearned.

The Wildcats (6-7, 4-3), who lost their fifth straight, scored both of their runs in the second.

Peyton Howard and Josiah Moore had singles for the Wildcats with the latter also collecting an RBI.

Brett Major took the loss after allowing six runs with only two being earned in 1 2/3 innings. He gave up six hits, didn’t issue any walks and had one strikeout. Mitchell Polk worked three innings in relief with Daniel Roblee working 1/3 of an inning.

Of the 12 runs Lake Hamilton scored, only three were earned.

The Wildcats will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Hot Springs for a conference clash.

HARMONY GROVE 7, SMACKOVER 3

SMACKOVER - The Hornets (6-9, 1-2) scored seven runs in the sixth to overcome a 3-0 deficit to win an 8-3A showdown.

The Bucks (3-3, 2-2) broke a scoreless stalemate with three runs in the fifth with Jaden Bryant singling home two runs before Wyatt Parker followed with an RBI double.

Britton Warren allowed only one hit over five scoreless innings. He walked four and struck out eight.

Parker took the loss after allowing all seven of Harmony Grove’s runs in the sixth.

Ethan Tarver and Cole McNeely each had one hit for the Bucks.

Smackover will hit the road for a non-conference tilt at Woodlawn on Monday.
